Title: Strange Happenings In The U.S.A. In Nov 2011

(A Despatch From Reuter's:)

New York City, Dec 1, 2011 - Numerous hitherto inexplicable trends and events have happened in the United States of America, into which scientists are doing avid research. First, a significant percentage of the population, mostly male, aged somewhere between 20 and 70 with a median of 55 years, visited their family doctors with complaints of fever, that proved to be unrelated to any bacterial or viral external source. These people were duly treated with appropriate medication.

Then, when most experts would tell you that the 'old' storage media for music, the vinyl album and the CD, had passed their sell-by date, for downloading seemed to be the definite music source of the future, there was a sudden and miraculous rise in sales of quality turntables by the likes of Thorens, Rega, and Dual.

Most baffling, however, on November 1, there was a troubling number of sudden early-morning telephone calls and e-mails to employers, all with the same content: a declaration of having 'suddenly become sick', not mentioning any specific symptom patterns. The caller population mysteriously perfectly matched that of the aforementioned fever cases throughout the country. Meanwhile, postal employees reported a never-seen-before percentage of recipients actually being at home around 12-1 PM, jumping at them from behind the front door as if they'd been sitting there at the ready.

Lastly, in the weeks after Nov 1, psychotherapists received a higher than usual number of requests for a few sessions by married women, all having the same complaint: marital neglect.

The reasons for these events are not clear yet, but they may be not entirely unrelated.

...except, because I don't trust the delivery folk at home - mine is being shipped to my workplace.  If we hadn't ripped the turntables out of the old radio studio, I'd be up there listening all day on this board!
