Title: Pet Projects Vol. 2 Post by: punkinhead on August 11, 2011, 08:15:29 AM I'd like to see a proposed tracklist of songs (left overs from the 60s not included on the first volume) and other 70s/80s gems that Brian is a part of.
I'd include more American Spring, most notably Sweet Mountain, Had to Phone Ya, and This Whole World. Also, I'd throw Brian and Jan Berry's cut of Don't Ya Just Know it and California Music's Why Do Fools Fall in Love. OH! and can't leave off that cover/version of Help me Rhonda that Brian's on by Johnny Rivers. I'd also throw on Bob and Sheri's 45 of Surfermoon/Humpty Dumpty on there. Story of My Life by Sharon Marie (is that on the original Pet Projects?) We also need Bob and Bobby's cut of Twelve-O-Four. What am I missing? Title: Re: Pet Projects Vol. 2 Post by: onkster on August 11, 2011, 08:37:46 AM Might that include any of the stuff Brian did at "Junior's Motel" in Otho, IA? Has that stuff ever turned up anywhere? My understanding is that it was demo work for Spring or some variation of it. Don't know what the track titles were...

Baby what you want me to do Great production ! Would've loved if Brian and the boys would have cut such a blues album Title: Re: Pet Projects Vol. 2 Post by: punkinhead on August 11, 2011, 02:00:08 PM We also need Bob and Bobby's cut of Twelve-O-Four. Sweet Mountain (American Spring) This Whole World (American Spring) Had to Phone Ya (American Spring) California Feeling (American Spring plus Rocky P.) Don't Ya Just Know it (Jan Berry) Why Do Fools Fall in Love (California Music) Help Me Rhonda (Johnny Rivers) Twelve O Four (Bob and Bobby) What You Want Me to Do (bob and Bobby) The Surfer Moon (Bob and Sheri) Humpty Dumpty (Bob and Sheri) Story of my Life (Sharon Marie) I'll Keep On Loving You (Ron Wilson) As Tears Go By (Ron Wilson) It's Like Heaven (American Spring) Thinkin' Bout your Baby (American Spring) Boat To Sail (Jackie DeShannon) Things are Changing (The Blossoms) Time to Get Alone (Redwood) Everything I Need (The Wilsons) Til I Die (The Wilsons) In My Room (Wilson Phillips) Lady Love (Dino, Desi, and Billy) (Yes, I know it's not BW, but it's certainly related, and if that's the case, perhaps some songs from the Flame's album produced by Carl?) Tracks from Fred Vail's "country album" (BONUS) Title: Re: Pet Projects Vol. 2 Post by: onkster on August 12, 2011, 08:33:24 AM Might that include any of the stuff Brian did at "Junior's Motel" in Otho, IA? I've never heard of what you're describing...can you back this up with a source? There was mention of it in Brad Elliott's book, plus I went to the place and Kirk Kaufman (owner/producer/engineer there, plus former member of cool midwest band Westminist'r) told me a lot about it. This was during Brian's super-heavy period, and for a few days, Brian would not move from his bed at the Fort Dodge Holiday Inn a few miles away. Eventually he came in and did some stuff--I was not an uberfan yet, and so did not think to press him for titles, etc. But he did say it was work for some of his wife's material. This was the recording studio built out of a chicken coop, and stocked with lots of high tech (for that time) gear. It was a cool little place! Title: Re: Pet Projects Vol. 2 Post by: hypehat on August 12, 2011, 08:33:40 AM Things are Changing wouldn't count, as although it's a Brian song, it's not a Brian production.
