Title: The Wilson Tapes boot
Post by: onkster on July 07, 2011, 01:33:50 PM
I did some trading a few years ago, and ended up with a sorry CD called "The Wilson Tapes".

I was all excited because it purported to have a better version of "Barnyard" and a rare take of "The Elements". What these turned out to be were horrible fan-made mixes. "Barnyard" looped the backing tape we all knew from before, and put some very out-of-tune harmonies on top, inspired by Brian's "Barnyard Billy" snippet from IJWMFTT. The "Elements" thing was just somebody noodling around on a synth or Casio...no attempt to even SOUND like the 60s at all!

There were a few interesting real bits here and there...like Brian on SNL doing the solo GV...but man...anybody know the back story on this album? Are any of the guilty parties here on the board?

The one bit of credit I've gotta give is that the "Barnyard" thing takes the liberty of making Billy a bit more carnivorous: "Barnyard Billy, he really loves his chicken.....SOUUUUUUUUP!" Which is good for a laugh.

Come on. 'Fess up, guys.

It was Mikie. He was the first person to have any of those tapes. Ask him.
