I'm a fairly long-time lurker here, but just decided to start posting a bit recently. My BB story is pretty standard fare: knew the hits, heard Pet Sounds, became obsessive, haven't listened to any other band/musician since. I've only been into the Boys for about 3 years and still have a lot to learn, but the boards sure have been a great place to start.
I'm an amateur musician and have done a number of Beach Boys covers in recent months. In particular, I've been working on my own cover of SMiLE for some time now. It's modeled on BWPS, but my goal is to be even more reverential to the '66-'67 recordings than the 2004 album was. I've completed almost all the tracks, have done a decent amount of lead and BG vox, but still have a good amount to finish still (sound familiar?). I hope you'll all enjoy it when I finally wrap it up. Anyway, thanks for making this such a great resource for new fans like me.
