Title: Dennis - So Sad
Post by: petsite on May 25, 2011, 09:47:26 PM
The last time I saw Dennis, he looked like this. I found this online tonight.

Those eyes say so much about where he was at that time...

I thought the bloated face wouldve been the dead give away...

Dennis looked like he'd just had a premonition that one day John Stamos will be covering his songs.

Clearly, this photo portrays the effects of being in the same band as Myke Luhv for an excessive amount of time. :p

Pay no attention to Mr. oldsurferdude. He secretly has a crush on the Lovester and is too proud to admit it. :)

That's a pretty haunting photo. Keep looking at his eyes. It's like they're not even focused.

There is certainly plenty of information that tells us Dennis was in a bad place in these later years in particular. But I don’t think much can be read into that particular photo. Maybe he was just thinking about what he wanted to eat for lunch. I’ve seen photos of people looking bored or spacing out, and I don’t immediately just interpret that photo based on all the other ills of their life. I’ve seen photos and footage of Dennis looking worse than that. I can’t just say “oh, he looks okay.” But to me, that photo isn’t one of those shocker photos spelling the end.

Well, I am not very shocked by his eyes. But look at his mouth, especially the part between nose and mouth. It's swollen like hell.
And he really looks like he's in his mid to late 50s.

Don't forget his face was crushed by that Stan and Rocky beating , not to mention all the other fights and car accidents. His mouth was totaled. Should have kept the beard.

I'm not enthusiastic in general about commenting on such a photo. But what strikes me most are the thin lips. Compare:

The fact that Dennis was so good looking up into his early 30's really makes the roughness of his last few years even more blatant.

The question is, did Brian look better in 1966 then Dennis did in 1983?

In all the photos i've seen of Dennis from around 1981 to 1983, his entire facial structure looked different. It looks like his jaw had been dislocated. I wonder if Stan and Rocky did more damage that what has been made public.

I think Dennis looks 'so sad' because he's been keeping tabs on the other thread about Stamos' 'Forever'.

Yep. Brian through 1972-73 looked way better then Dennis in 1981-3.

What?! He hasn't turned 40 at the time...
He has the classic face of a drug addict with too much heroine.

Sad sad sad...
But you people read too much into pictures...

I agree with you...he seems to have lost that "sparkling twinkle" in his eyes.
But as someone who just recently discovered the wonderful music on Pacific Ocean Blue...I try to think that maybe, just maybe, Dennis knew he could do more good from where he is now. Just my opinion. :)

It amazes me, the amount of people that don't seem to know the difference between heroin and heroine.

I see the mistakes with "your/you're and "than/then" a lot. And "Murry/Murray" and "Audree/Audrey" Wilson.

But the one I see the most on this board and others, and even e-mails at work?

"Alot".  This is not a word, people!!  It's "A lot".

Another one I hate is when people say or write "of" instead of "have".

What's even worse is when someone who writes books uses 'amount' rather than 'number' when referring to the count of people.

What's so sad is how quickly people stray from the subject of the thread to something totally irrelevant . It's about Dennis not people's poor use of grammar.

Such a sad picture.

To think all these years later that both Al and Bruce had wives that allowed them out of the house in short shorts! :(

The clip of Dennis singing "You Are so Beautiful" live that was in American Band is really hard to watch.  It was obvious he wasn't long for this world!

The shorts Al and Bruce are wearing in the 1983 Seattle video are heinous in the extreme. Only Carl looks well dressed; and the poor guy must have been sweating his ass off in the Kingdome as he was wearing all black.

This whole thread strikes me as irrelevant. Looking at a picture and saying...so sad...and then awkwardly commenting on it reminds me of the film "The Rivers Edge". Everybody had to go down to the river to look at the dead girl. Why? No one had any useful insight,  and no one could or would help her. Its just pure morbid curiosity. That's what this thread is.

Where would you have it go?( or not at all)
So many here never knew Dennis personally, yet all are forever touched personally and want to express it in some way.

If it makes just one person think twice about the ravages of drugs and alcohol then it's worthwhile.

That's why I had no problem contributing to the thread when it derailed to the subject of bad grammer. That seemed to be more productive than commenting on a picture of Dennis towards the end of his life. Isn't there a pictures thread dedicated to that stuff?

Edit: And what's up with Kansas City Dave?  Picky booger, ain't he?  He must have some kinda beef with Jon.  ::)
