Title: Polly Tones SMiLE cover removed from YouTube??
Post by: robertgotshall on May 22, 2011, 03:17:43 PM
So I was cruising the board and came across this thread here (http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,8241.0.html), which is the Polly Tones cover of SMiLE. However, much to my dismay, when I tried clicking on the YouTube links to the music, all of the covers had been removed from YouTube due to a copyright claim filed by Brother Records??! Lame. I'm no copyright expert but since when do covers, found on YouTube no less, infringe on the copyright laws? Could someone clear that up for me, please?

It's a real shame, I would have loved to hear their cover.

The Pollytones even removed the SMiLE covers from their page. What a shame. It was one of the most beautiful covers of music I have ever heard.

I definitely hope to hear that cover again one day.

I really did not think doing covers could breach any copyright laws - especially if you weren't making money off of them.
