Title: 1972 Carl and the Passions/Pet Sounds vs. Pet Sounds DCC
Post by: David Kennedy on May 18, 2011, 12:13:31 PM
Just picked up the 1972 double lp and my question is there a difference between it and DCC version? If so,what are they? And which one do you guys think is better in terms of sound?

They're very close. The 1972 pressing has a little anomaly on Wouldn't It Be Nice. Starts off mono, then from the bridge onward, duophonic. This was also repeated in the Reprise 1972 single of Wouldn't It Be Nice/Sloop John B.

Was the tape for WIBN lost that far back? I knew it was lost in 86 when Made In USA was put togther, but not in 72.

I never knew that; guess I may have to listen to some of my vinyls someday...
