My house is so starved for food right now, that if a pizza were infront of me i'd gladly accept a heart attack after it. No kidding. I place very little value on my own personal health and longevity.

Pizza and hamburgers aren't that bad for you, especially if the burger is homemade on the BBQ.

I don't really want to live all that long myself, but for some reason I make sure to have one glass of orange juice and two glasses of milk a day (or when I have the good vitamin-pumped orange juice, just one glass of orange juice a day), and I always feel bad when I don't eat vegetables. I never do eat vegetables, though. Come to think of it I eat like crap. I used to care about what I ate, but that's when I thought eating healthy would make me skinnier. I care about my bones, though, which I guess is why I drink the milk; I have a pretty weak spine already and I guess I think that milk will stop me from having terrible bone problems later in life (even though I don't think I'm going to live past 60, if that).

I haven't eaten any vegetables my whole life really. When I was a baby i'm sure I was fed them, but i've been pretty stubborn with my eating my whole life and the taste and texture of vegetables crosses the line for me. I've only just gained weight and become a bit pudgy around the waist. That was from lack of excersise though, I used to be outside all the time. You can thank the Beach Boys for the lack of outdoor activites.  ::)

That sounds good, but how to make it?  Roll the chicken in crushed cornflakes, how long in oven and do you add butter?
Thanks

I had some kind of chicken stir fry with orange juice in it.  Pretty good stuff.  I did not bend to my 3 year old's will and allow him a snack when we got home from daycare, so he actually sat down and ate all his supper too.

I've altered my life style and now eat salsds and a little something else for dinner.

But I've learned to keep a large supply and variety of salad ingredients so its actually very good.

Last night;

Spring mix with sliced cucumber, sliced button mushrooms, grape tomatos, red onion slices, black olives, croutons, coarse black pepper and light-done-right Italian olive oil dressing.

Along with this there was a cup of black bean soup,

and a chicken fahita of shrredded, seasoned chicken breast, fat free cheddar cheese, red onions, red sauce, and a few black beans.

On the side, baked taco chips, home made guacamole, fat free sour cream, and Newmans Own medium salsa.

And a Bud Light.

Healthy, low cal, low fat, satisfying, and tasty.

I don't know whether I'd rather be having a bottle of vinegar.
I don't know whether I'd rather be having an egg.
I don't know whether I'd rather be having an order of bacon
Or whether I'd rather be having a basket of garlic bread.
I don't know whether I'd rather be having some pie or
Saving my appetite, 'cause I'm
Waiting for the dinner bell to do the bell thing.
Dinner bell dinner bell ring.

[before] potato dumplings [after]
I love casual dumplings with meat filling, or how they called in Russia - "pelmeni". Homemade ones are delicious! Generally, I like the homemade food, not a cafe or restaraunt rover.

Reading this thread, I noticed majority likes(-ed) eating chicken for the dinner. Kind of funny your tastes, except for being the BBs fans, also match on this culinary stuff.

Those sound good RangeRover.  Similar to pot stickers, which I love.  My favorite kind of food is Chinese and it's like.  Vietnamese Imperial Rolls (a pork, shrimp, rice noodles, carrots and cabbage mixture, wrapped and fried in rice paper) with 5 Spice Chicken makes a good meal.  What are those shrimp dim sum, Hargow?  I go to Chinese bakeries whenever I can (have to go all the way to NYC to find them).  The frozen ones are not nearly as good.  One of the things I miss most not living in a Big City is the diversity of the food.  Key word is ethnic.  I already know how to cook American.  When I pay to go out, it sure isn't going to be for something I can get at home.  I used to live near a Greek deli that sold Pirozhki (a meat filled fried bun) - great with potato salad.  Russia has something like that.  I love seafood of all sorts, especially oysters, shrimp, and my very favorite food period, lobster (broiled in butter).  Affording that doesn't bring it to my table often enough though.
I'm officially hungry now.  Going to a Mexican restaurant tonight for a birthday party, so skipping lunch.   I love cheese stuffed Chile Rellenos.  Sure that's what I'll have.  Love tamales too.

I'm also a big fan of seafood; I like fish baked or in soup, never ate oysters, but I saw in 1 culinary show that it's served raw & with white wine. Looked good. Actually, "pirozhki" aren't only meat-filled - for example, my granny makes them with caramel candies, rice&eggs, cloudberry (rarely, as they grow in marshy places), how fantasy works. Also, the pies can be baked, not just fried. I prefer the former, but sometimes would have a bite on fried too. From the forest food I like most everything, including mushrooms, esp. chanterelles. Re favorite kind of food, mine is our national cuisine (except the vastly overrated Olivier salad & shashlyk). Love the Shrovetide (Maslenitsa) holiday, it's very joyful in the streets the whole week & you can help yourselves with pancakes for free! Kholodets is yummy too.

You're right about the diversity of food in NYC; I glanced at some picture cards, without flying over to another continent, you can find everything in there. There's even a Russian district called Brighton-Beach where people from ex-Soviet Union live. I read that the 1st Russian settlers/those have been living in US for long don't employ the newcomers in restaurants because they think Russian people aren't punctual enough, lack in discipline & don't speak English at all. Nonsense, the folks I know never were in America, are very good at English.
