...would be pretty sweet! I imagine there is enough "bonus" material out there to release each album seperately with it's own bonus tracks, outtakes, demos, mono/stereo mixes etc. Probably not on the cards at the moment, but it would've been a great 50th project. I feel the Two-Fers force you to group albums together rather than view them isolated in their own context. I want Whistle In to be the end of my Smiley Smile experience, not a sudden jolt into Wild Honey. Ideally the bonus tracks would take up a second disc then too. Imagine a deluxe copy of Sunflower with outtakes.

These are just dreams, but does anyone know if there are any future reissues planned... this decade perhaps?

 I would totally buy that sh*t, just tack on the old bonus tracks, plus appropriate stuff from Hawthorne and Endless Harmony, then a few extra nuggets of unreleased stuff and the kitchen sink and I would happily shell out every red cent for it.

Wouldn't it be really easy to do that yourself with CDRs?  Why do you need to rely on the record company?

I agree, I tend to think of the way the twofer albums are paired, I think of them as being on the same level or same theme

bumping an old thread because i was thinking about this today -- this seems like a complete no-brainer for the 50th anniversary. when i got into the beach boys about five years ago their twofers were already more or less impossible to find in the average record store. if an artist like elvis costello (who i love, don't get me wrong) can get albums like "goodbye cruel world" rereleased by rhino in magnificently remastered 2-cd packages with liner notes and bonus material it seems criminal that "sunflower" or "friends" hasn't had the same treatment. i have to imagine that this is just whoever owns the rights to the BB's material being stingy.

i know there's the argument someone made above that this is do-able on our own, but there's something special about getting your hands on a package assembled with care and attentiveness like the EC reissues i mentioned above.

Perhaps I'm getting older. I am pretty happy with the twofers. Yes, there may be numerous good things as yet unreleased, but are there enough to warrant a whole new reissue enterprise? I find the CDR idea very reasonable.

I don't think so. All good things come to an end. I said it before:

I would just like beachboyscentral.com to become a reality and put the bonus tracks out there for purchase.  I would say that I can't believe this hasn't happened yet, but this is The Beach Boys.

yeah, that's a completely understandable point of view for (probably the majority here) most people who have purchased this material over and over. i'm just speaking from the point of view of someone who's young enough to have missed out on the original reissue campaign, i only own most of these records on vinyl (thank god, where i can find it).

They might not be in the high street retailers any more – what is, frankly, other than games and Zombie DVDs – but most if not all the two-fers are available on Amazon and other sites, as well as for download.  Lots of us here will have the two-fers twice already…

I'm with the Don on this, reluctantly so but of necessity - got a two-year old to feed and there'll be a new mouth to feed come January*.  That, and we're almost out of wall space for new CDs!

Not selfish, I hope, just practical.  I never imagined I'd have to grow up…

I think the odds of this are as slim as a Hollywood model, but I'd love to see a Deluxe edition of Love you, Disk one would have the album we all know and love, disk 2 could have the piano demos that Brian cut and Brian's mix of the album, (if not pushing it) disk 3 could have Instrumental tracks. And do we know if any of the studio sessions were filmed at all ? if so they could go on a DVD with some live performances of the songs from around that time.

If packaged nicely, with extensive liner notes, and a poster of the album art (just because I love it), and maybe a reproduction of that insert which had the grovelling message to Brian with that picture of Marylin looking like she turned into a Vampire going for Brian's jugular. I would pay a considerable sum.

How many times will these albums be re released and repackaged before something completely new from the vaults is released? Video material would be great. How about the July 4th 1983 Concert?  Just saying, how long will these treasures sit in the vaults and collect dust before fans can have them for posterity?

They would of course have to release it digitally (both mp3 and lossless versions) and on vinyl.  :afro
