Title: "Brian Wilson" vs. "Mike Love"
Post by: Awesoman on March 10, 2011, 02:41:30 PM

Already posted in the Youtube thread but thought I would share it here as well.  The great impressionist Stevie Riks has finally hit a Beach Boys kick with a few Beach Boys-related videos.  The one above is his newest one.  If you haven't checked out his Youtube page yet, you definitely should.  He does some hilarious, spot-on impersonations and there are hours of videos to be found on there.

Holy foda!

I was watching this guy's Beatles impressions at least a year ago, and I thought to myself "what if this guy were to do Beach Boys impressions?", but I never thought he'd actually do it! Awesome.

His Brian impression cracked me up...the side mouth talk, it was really good.

What's with the: "Ah geegs."?

Sometimes I worry about the effect Youtube can have on a young man.

His Brian Wilson kind of sounds like Elvis at points. XD

Lame jokes I hear (actually, the one about the fridge wasn't too lame) - where are the good impressions ?  All I see is some guy with a big pillow stuffed up his shirt twisting his face and talking like a mentally handicapped person, and the same guy with a dead badger stuck to his chin.

I thought the Mike was a bit lame but he nailed quite a few of Brian's mannerisms. My favourite one was when Brian's playing piano, then stops so he can move his arms and hands around, yet the music keeps going.

Check out the guy's Monkees impression, now that really had me in stitches!!

I'm with you.  I've never thought Riks was funny or particularly good with his impressions.

Those are impressions? I thought that was real!! Then the cocaine finally wore out.

"Aw geez"

Why did his Mike impression sound like the car salesman in Fargo?

He does a great Marc Bolan, CosmicDancer.

"Aw geez"

Made me think of Richie Cunningham from "Happy Days".

I like his version of the Beatles' performing "Sail On Sailor" much better.

Wow, tough crowd.  Admittingly it might take watching his videos a few times to appreciate Riks' humor.  But with a little more open-mindedness I'm pretty sure most people here could come to enjoy what he does.  Stevie Riks does a killer David Bowie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Fr3rDQQ-9E&feature=channel_video_title), all three Bee Gees (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CY7zyjwb_yU&feature=related) and of course, the Beatles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JP7lNrLuaX8&feature=channel_video_title).  And his Jeff Lynne is a riot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=impSkBKssW8&feature=channel_video_title).  There is nothing embarassing about what he does.  Give him a chance.

OK, gave 'em all a try.

Bowie - rubbish, and embarrassing rubbish.
Bee Gees - passable
Lennon & McCartney - more like Stardust & Gallager
Jeff Lynne - see Bowie

I find his humor to be tasteless...watching someone make fun of a 68 year old recovered-drug-addict/mental-illness-prone musical legend isn't my cup of tea.

When it comes to impressions, I tune into Frank Caliendo's stuff....hilarious guy.

Brian may like a good impression.

His 'Hold My Nose' take-off of Mike is a classic IMO. ;D

Oooh, stop the world, someone spoofed how Brian acts.   ::)

I thought his Brian was an *okay* impression (his appearance in the 'Fifth Beatle' video is better).... does make you wonder what a Peter Serafinowicz version of Brian would be like.  (I personally think Peter's Beatles, especially Paul, are a great deal better than Stevie's.)

Got no problem with anyone being spoofed/caricatured, but I do have a problem when it's done so very piss-poorly.

Anyone else notice the timeline is out of whack? We get a 68 year old Brian and an early 1970's era Mike?

I don't really like this guy either. I think his Beatles impressions are really dumb. the Brian voice is alright and Mike isn't like Mike at all. the refrigerator line was funny but nothing else was. what was with that song at the end? this guy is so overrated.
