Spinning off from the VU thread, let's have at it for this Genius. Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) indeed. This guy has no limits. Favorite album is Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks.

(Sorry, Jason, you're on your own on this one...and, by on your own, I mean without my participation. And I guess that's hardly alone.

It's all about Warm Jets for me, but Tiger, Music For Films, Evening Star and Bush Of Ghosts are sweet as well.

Ok, I'll admit I have a soft spot for Brian Eno because his Ambient 1: Music For Airports album helped me beat my fear of flying.

Love Another Green World and Before and After Science. "Science" in particular cuz it combines the poppiness of "Jets" with the atmospherics of "Green World".
Also check out "Wrong Way Up", his collaboration with John Cale-an absolute gem of a record.

I'm a massive Brian Eno fan. My favorite albums are Music For Airports, On Land, parts of Apollo and Discreet Music.

Music for Airports is amazing. I feel like everything is moving in slow motion when I have that album on. It surprises me how much of an emotional reaction I have to that album, so melancholy and yet beautiful.

"Taking Tiger Mountain" is an all time fave of mine. Bought it as a result of a rave by Lester Bangs in "Creem" all those years ago. The ambient stuff is cool but those first four are where it's at.

I agree with everybody, and the new one is really good, too. Minimalist and weird, like a freaky, male version of Laurie Anderson.

I've always liked the "Discreet Music" album alot.
"Green World" has alot of great cuts, my fave being " The Big Ship".
"Through Hollow Lands" is another big favorite of mine.
His work with Bowie, of course, is landmark. Let's hope they get together again and continue the work they started with "outside".

Without Brian (Eno AND Wilson) I would not have a (middling) music career (such as it is). One of my three biggest musical influences.
A genius, plain and simple.
And "Baby's On Fire" happens to be one of the baddest* songs ever.
* You can tell I grew up in the 80s.
