Also, Mike Love's being a bigger a-hole than ever on this video, but it makes me wonder why he never tried to become a radio DJ:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rwHAE3XE4Y

If I remember correctly, I believe it was Brian saying all that. The vid proves that Brian had a lot of anger towards Mike regarding SMiLE....alluding to the idea that Brian thought it was mostly Mike's fault for SMiLE's outcome possibly?
You mean Brian wrote it, or he's doing an immaculate Mike Love impression, or what?

According to Peter Carlin's book 'Catch a Wave', page 125, it was Brian who was imitating Mike Love. I had never heard it until you posted the link....I thought it was Love when i heard it, then I remembered it was Brian.

Thanks for posting it here, btw....I figured Carlin was one of the only people who had heard it....I really didn't believe it existed.
You know, I've joked about Brian's voice being so versatile that he probably could've perfectly replicated the harmonies singlehandedly, but hearing that, I'm starting to believe it.

I know! right!? Not only is he a genius at musical composition, but he can mimic voices on a professional level!  LOL

I might be wrong(and I probably am  Roll Eyes) but I swear that I read somewhere that you could hear Brian in the background laughing, on the "Smile rant". So unless Brian can throw his voice, I'd say that it is indeed Mike.

Anybody got this documentary? Mike is at 2:20 in this trailer and Carl just behind him and it probably features the wildest footage ever of Jerry Lee Lewis:

Yeah, it's Mike speaking, but it was BW's idea, and you can hear brian at the end of the track enjoying himself in the control room.

They've been showing the entire thing on the telly over here, but i didn't catch this episode. Its scope is simulatenously really huge and really small - it goes into huge depth with pre-war forms of music, tin pan alley, vaudeville, jazz, and rock n roll etc, but it dries up considerably when it reaches the 60's (although it might do in later episodes -the scheduling is somewhat erratic here, so i've missed a lot even with sky+). Some wonderful, wonderful footage in there though.

Wow, you were right. Grillo's comment made me go back and read the page from Carlin's book. I totally read it wrong. It was Mike speaking according to Carlin, but Brian wrote it as Grillo pointed out. Whoops!

Interesting; I stumbled upon and acquired this documentary about a year ago, primarily because it's the same director that did Zappa's "200 Motels".  YouTube states that it's Palmer's 17 episode series, however, imdb only list this one part as being done by Palmer  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0247846/fullcredits
Also, I recall these interviews were conducted at The Plaza Hotel in New York, and they were told they were being done for The Old Grey Whistle Test.  As a matter of fact, there is a BB documentary that has used Brian from these tapes.

All My loving was a documentary that aired in 1968. I'm not sure if it was U.K. only or not. It's available on dvd.
