My imaginary BB's LP cover from another thread...

Hey Little Tomboy is creepy. Banging women by the pool is fun and conjures up warm summer thoughts a Beach Boys song should.

Rocker, thanks for sharing the incredible concert images!

I know everyone thinks of Dennis as the coolest guy ever but that outfit with the yellow jacket is so early-70s cheesy! Cheesy

My pleasure!
It's always fun just to google "Beach Boys" (and maybe a year) and see what you'll find.

On Malc's fantastic site there's a picture of the Boys live in '64 with all of them (including Dennis) at the front singing. Does anyone know which song it was? Can't think of any that hadn't had at least some drum part going. Here's the link:
http://www.pipeline-operaglass.moonfruit.com/#/concert/4517268635

And while we're at it, does anyone have that picture in better quality?

From German Bravo magazine...  Cheesy

So they were talking about the length of their hair (must've been one most important topic back then) and how they had just become a rock band. The last sentence says: "Our fans alone are now up to decide whether we chose the right way or not."

"Just become a rock band" ?? They became a rock band on labor day weekend 1961... so, what the hell does that mean?

Carl in 1975...

Great pic!   Definitely the best looking Beach Boy.
Carl was a beautiful man but Dennis was not only the best looking Beach Boy but the best looking man in the history of music. Good looking, charismatic, and very underrated- THE reason I became a drummer and got into playing music. I wasn't alive to see Dennis but thank god I saw Carl.

"Rock band" in the contemporary sense of the time. From that point on, they "rocked" (like the Stones). Before that they were a pop/vocal group. That's how they meant it, I guess.

You don't to tell me that. Wink It was the Beach Boys talking, in a very specific context of contemporary music.

Found a couple of pictures from when the Beach Boys played at Memorial Stadium in Joliet, Illinois. My first job was at the public library there, and one day when I was looking in the newspaper microfilm for an article for a patron, I stumbled on an article about one of the concerts (I think in 1975) having to end early because of a riot (and literally this morning found out that apparently it was caused by a motorcycle gang).

The first picture I think is from when they played there in 1974. The guy on the guitar is the one who sent me the picture. I don't remember who he is, and I'm pretty sure this was a one-off gig for him (from what he told me), but if anybody recognizes him, I'd love for him to be ID'ed.

I think the second one is from the 1975 show.

I have no idea who the guitarist is, but he does resemble one of the Cate Brothers. When I saw the BB in September of '74 at the Nassau Colessium, the Cate brothers were the opening act. One of the Cate brothers later replaced Robbie Robertson in the re-formed Band.  Again I have no idea. Just throwing it out there.
