By the time they performed it live - 10/22/66 at Ann Arbor MI - Carl could hit the note.

Practice or had he been hit in ways we don't wish to imagine to raise hos voice Grin

Here's one for the ELO fans on this board:

Does anyone know if Jeff Lynne was somewhat inspired by the boys when he recorded "Heaven Only Knows"?, there are some parts in that song which sound too Beach Boys'ey to me to be coincidence (the "heaven, heaven, heaven -- heaven only knows" bit for example).
Incidentally, I think the boys would have owned "Getting To The Point" even in the 80's.

At those couple of shows where Mike was not present, was Fun, Fun, Fun in the setlist  ?

Seems like that would be a really weird one to do without Mike.

Yes, here:

The live version of Surfer Girl on the GV box from 1967, was this rehearsal the one before they performed or the one they did in the studio back in LA after the Hawaii stint was over/failed?

A buddy let me borrow the California Myth Leaf book and I was reading where he said Brian broke things of with Judy. I coulda sworn I read on every other source that Judy broke things off with him. Who's right in this situation?

That is the Hawaiin rehearsal, with altered bass line and acappella outro. The Heider version has the standard bass line, as per the '63 single.

Other than the few songs that have been released officially, do any of the actual pre-show rehearsal's from Hawaii circulate? Do any other recordings even exist?

Not a question, but it seemed unworthy of starting a thread and I don't feel like digging for an appropriate catch all thread...

I recently got a surprise early Christmas gift from a friend in the mail. She knows how I'm borderline obsessed with The Beach Boys and tend to overdo it when it comes to decorating, so she bought this hand-made ornament out of old album covers.
http://www.etsy.com/listing/109080541/beach-boys-album-cover-ornament-made-of

I have it hanging from the ceiling next to my bed now. It's awesome, but now Mike Love is staring at me.

basically, Waners/Reprise ran a promotion where they offered to send anyone a copy of the New Surf's Up LP, when they sent in their old copy of Surfin Safari.

It's not sheet music, but here's the chart for it:

Gettin' Hungry  (Brian Wilson/Mike Love)

(original key: B)

Intro: C........F........C........F

...Dm................................................Am
I wake up in the mornin' just to work all through the day
..........Dm....................................................Am
That sun can get so hot that you can sweat your strength away
............F................Dm7.....................G7
And ooooohhhhhhhh come the night time

...............C...............................F
Gettin' hungry, hungry for my kind o' woman
....................C...................................F
I'm gettin' hungry, soon I gotta find me a woman
....................C......................................G7
I'm gettin' hungry, searchin' for a pretty girl

...........Dm...............................................................Am
But I still get up in the mornin' though it's so hard all day long
.........Dm..............................................................Am
If it weren't for the love of a woman I don't think I'd continue on
...........F..............Dm7........................G7
And ooooohhhhhhhh come the night time

....................C7..........F7
I'm gettin' hungry, hungry, for my kind of woman

C...................................F
Hungry, hungry for my kind o' woman
....................C...................................F
I'm gettin' hungry, soon I gotta find me a woman
....................C......................................G7
I'm gettin' hungry, searchin' for a pretty girl

A bit like the Song Cycle thing? 'Send us in yr old copy + $0.01 and we'll send you two brand new ones!'.

Whoever dreamt this stuff up (Stan Cornyn?) must have had the best drugs in the WB office. Was there an ad? And has anyone got a scan?  Grin
