A live box would be fab! Think of all the goodies, including the Box Set Tour rehearsals and stuff that many thought may have seen the light of day last year or this.  It could be a live career retrospective with every song performed live and recorded released.  All neatly packaged with a concert programme type of book (would have made a great accompaniment to Ian and John's book) along with a few full sized reproduction posters from key shows.  I used to listen to versions of California Girls and Sloop John B live version after live version, all in a row.  Interesting to hear the variations throughout the years.

Very different from Uniondale 1974. Dennis' voice in 1972 still sounds "clean" to me. At least as clean as In The Back Of My Mind. Wish I had a clean Dennis version from all the 1972-74 tours he sang it on, we could really narrow down when his voice changed then.

If you listen to the 1973 Hartford gig, Dennis sounds like he was in the midst of a change in his voice. Within a year his voice had deteriorated further.
Compared there is a difference, but the 1973 Forever done late in the year is pretty darn clear. Both are audience recordings though which is why I mentioned Uniondale 1974.

It's being released through Amazon UK on September 2nd. Then, I'd have to wait a week or two for it to ship to California.
So, that would have been a long, treacherous wait.

I see that the box is now listed as being released on August 21 on a couple of websites...  Shocked

It's most likely wrong, I guess.

Aah, this is starting to bug me. Why the frackity-hoople is Amazon's UK release date later than everywhere else in Europe and the US?

Normally, stuff is out in Germany and Scandinavia first (sometimes at the end of a week), then the UK (usually on the following Monday officially, though sometimes copies are in the shops on the weekend), and then it comes out in the USA a day later on the Tuesday.

I'm wondering whether to order from Amazon.de now...!

...and if the UK date is wrong or out of date, WHY?Huh It's been like that for months now. If it's wrong, it should long since have been corrected, and if it's right, what is it about Amazon in the UK that means we have to wait another week?

Grrrr. I would really rather buy from a bricks and mortar store than Amazon. They're so annoyingly *bad* at what they do.

Sorry if this was addressed in a prior page (way too many pages to pour thru), but do we know yet whether the tracks will be available for individual sale on iTunes, Amazon, etc.?

Dennis' version of Help Me, Rhonda sounds like a Grateful Dead cover version.  But who is singing that high whiney voice in there at times?

If you mean during the choruses, that's Dennis.

Didn't know he had it in him, even if it sounds somewhat strained.

Yeah, it's a little strained, but it's nice to see him so into the song.

The US price has gone down to $130. Still stupidly overly expensive. That said, I'll probably get one or two.  Grin

Great version! The first few words sound a bit like a Brian of a couple years later.
Sounds like Blondie on Brian's high part. How many of the high parts did he take during his tenure with the band?

It is indeed Blondie.  Off the top of my head, I can only think of this one and "I Get Around" where he sang Brian's falsetto part.

Is it possible that Billy played the piano solo on 11/19/72 at Capitol Theater, NJ & Daryl played the piano solo on 11/23/72 at Carnegie Hall, NY?  I guess not all that unusual, considering 3 different vocalists were rotating the lead on various nights.  I believe the "In Concert" version was recorded 8/19/73 at Nassau Coliseum, NY with Billy on "electric" piano solo, followed by a guitar solo (Blondie?)

I seem to be in the minority but I still say that guitar solo is played by Ed Carter.  The style doesn't really match Carl or Blondie and there's been MANY a show where Carter played bass and switched to lead guitar (with Bruce on bass) for "Help Me, Rhonda".  My guess is that's what happened here but with Carl or Blondie playing bass.  After all, the Priess book does mention "bass lines from Ed Carter and Carl."

Steady Eddie Carter is the one playing that lead in the middle of Ronda on "In Concert". It kicks ass. One of his best. Blondie's probably on bass. Carter's also the guy behind the 8 ball in the pictures inside the album cover.

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!
