I did.  And The Beach Boys were a mythic presence and everyone's parents seemed to know them or had known them.

For example, my best friend's dad used to go camping with Al Jardine who'd be playing folk songs by the fire all night, and my Mom used to go camping with a big group of people, and Dennis would frequently be among them.

Does anyone have any interesting stories in that vein?

Could make for a good topic.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Ah, but see he said "wanted" the innocence; he didn't necessarily live it or have it.  Just sayin... That Al Jardine is a wild man

If the Beatles had suffered this kind of misrepresentation, they would have never got past singing 'Please Please Me' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' and leaping around in Beatle suits."
