1  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Complete Hite Morgan Sessions Will Be Released on: August 30, 2016, 02:08:23 PM
Hey guys,

I just interviewed Brad Rosenberger, president of Omnivore Recordings, about this set for my Icon Fetch podcast.  The link is:

http://www.iconfetch.com/great-music-interviews/2016-shows/1017-show-275-becoming-the-beach-boys-82916.html

He talks about actually having the tapes at his house (and how nervous it made him), before returning it to the Morgans.

Hope you enjoy.

2  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Mark Linett/Alan Boyd Followup Interview with Icon Fetch on: December 05, 2011, 08:50:28 AM
The final segment of the Smile Sessions followup interview with co-producers Mark Linett & Alan Boyd is up at iconfetch.com.

http://bit.ly/ugN6xD

They discuss why there wasn't a sessionography for disc one of the box, why they chose to leave Carl Wilson's vocal in "Surf's Up," if they used all the known segments of "Heroes and Villains," and what's next in the Beach Boys reissue program.

Alan also gives a shout out to the message board!

In addition, there's bonus material for Icon Fetch registered users where Mark discusses the upcoming Mobile Fidelity SACD of the stereo mix of Pet Sounds.

Enjoy,

Tony

Bah, good interview, but it hates my computer. Does anyone elses stop when they start playing Cabinessence?

Hey - Tony from Icon Fetch here.  For those having problems with the audio player, it's apparently a Flash problem.  If you update to the latest version, it should remedy the situation.  Shutting down and restarting your browser solves it too.

Part 2 will be posted in a week.

Enjoy.

4  Smiley Smile Stuff / Smile Sessions Box Set (2011) / Re: All things TSS packaging, presentation and booklet etc on: November 22, 2011, 08:58:01 AM
Part one of my SMiLE followup audio interview with co-producers Mark Linett & Alan Boyd has just been posted:

http://bit.ly/tPLJBu

In it, they talk about many of the questions that have been circulating around the 'net - including addressing the missing background vocals on "Barnyard," what, if any, tracks Brian nixed on the new set, how they assembled part two of "Heroes and Villains," and why there will never be a true stereo mix of "Good Vibrations."

Part two will be posted in a week.

Also, we're giving away a copy of the 2-CD version of the SMiLE Sessions" - just "like" Icon Fetch on FB.

Enjoy,

Tony
5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / SMiLE - Icon Fetch review, Carol Kaye interview, etc on: November 02, 2011, 02:09:14 PM
A couple SMiLE-related things...

-- The Icon Fetch review of the SMiLE Sessions is here: http://bit.ly/rpMcX5

-- I just talked with the great Carol Kaye, whose bass and guitar are all over SMiLE.  I'll be posting that interview in a few days.

--Reminder - Mark Linett has agreed to return to our show in about a week to answer those burning SMiLE questions.  You can post them on our site under the comments section.

Keep SMiLing.

The interview I did with Jon about his Beach Boys FAQ book is now posted on our site.  The shortened link is:

http://bit.ly/tqWKzc

There's also some "bonus" content available only to Icon Fetch users - Jon talks about which BB album is his favorite.  Registering is free and takes about 30 seconds.

Don't forget, once you get Smile -- you can leave questions on our site for co-producers Mark Linett and Alan Boyd to answer.  They'll be back on the show in a week or so.

Enjoy!

For those who would rather read interviews, than listen to them - here's a link to a transcript of part one of Mark Linett's interview with Icon Fetch about the upcoming SMiLE Sessions.

FYI, I'll be posting my talk with co-producer Alan Boyd at the first of the week.  I've also interviewed author Jon Stebbins, who wrote "The Beach Boys FAQ" and will post that one soon.

Enjoy.

Hey guys,

I'm currently editing my interview with Mark Linett, who helped co-produce the new SMiLE Sessions.  I also just had a lengthy chat with Domenic Priore, the foremost authority on everything SMiLE.  That interview will be posted soon.  I've given a little sneak preview on my blog:

http://www.iconfetch.com/tonys-blog/413-smile-sessions-blog-post-5.html

I'm also finalizing other interviews with musicians who either played on the sessions or had a chance to hear the work in progress.  I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,

Tony

Hello everyone,

I interviewed Beach Boys' engineer Mark Linett for my Icon Fetch web radio show (iconfetch.com).  I will post the full interview a little closer to the release of SMiLE.  But, I wanted to post a little preview, because it clears up some misconceptions about what was left off (if anything) of the 5-CD box.  The direct link is:

http://www.iconfetch.com/tonys-blog/410-smile-sessions-blog-post-4-with-mark-linett.html

Also, Mark has agreed to return to the show once SMiLE is released to answer questions you might have.  You can go to my site and post questions there or email them to me.

Enjoy!

10  Smiley Smile Stuff / Welcome to the Smiley Smile board / Hello! on: October 03, 2011, 12:34:26 PM
Hi everyone.

Been a life-long Beach Boys' fan.  My mom saw them in Cincinnati back in '64 (?), so she got me hooked basically from birth.  Favorite songs are probably "Please Let Me Wonder" and "Sail on Sailor."  I can't wait to get my hands on the new SMiLE box set!

I'm also a former radio guy who's taken to the Internet.  I run a site called Icon Fetch (iconfetch.com) that produces music interviews and CD reviews.  Currently, I have a preview of an interview I did with Beach Boys' engineer Mark Linett.  I will post that in the proper place.
