This is why they never bring up Smile in these group interviews.

It seems to me that I have seen specific mention on Brian's, mikes, and Al's Facebook of a live DVD/Bly release of their live performance at Red Rock Amphitheater.

Is this really the artwork? As seen at Amazon… Very possible, yes - as this is pretty much the only official artwork for the 50th celebration.

It wasn't very inspired to begin with.. At least the Brother Records indian is there. Could have been far worse (remember, it's the Beach Boys).

Very peculiar release. Especially with the promise of a new and expanded special on the horizon.
But this is the expanded special, right? The Blu-ray contains over 30 minutes of additional footage not included in the PBS showing...hopefully including a little more "in the studio" footage during the making of TWGMTR. It appears that both the regular DVD and the Blue-ray are 90 minutes long. Right, I didn't mean to suggest that the DVD would exclude the additional footage; I was using the term "Blu-ray" to refer to the physical product that reportedly contains more footage than the televised version.

Yeah, I actually don't mind the 50th artwork they've used in the program, posters, etc. It's a bit sort of one-note; it's literally a square logo plastered on everything including coffee mugs. But as someone else pointed out, the art could have been way worse; generic shots of cars and surfboards and stock photos of women in bikinis from 1987.
The only thing I think that is really kind of awkard is the title. "Doin' It Again" just sounds weird and awkward. Even just "Front Row Center" or something would have been better. Did they really have to give this thing a title that sounds like a porn title?

I wish they would do a performance of the album in its entirety like Brian did with "Smile" and "That Lucky Old Sun."

I agree. I had to buy the Tshirt and I have received nothing but compliments. Great design with great colors.

It appears that both the regular DVD and the Blue-ray are 90 minutes long.
Usually, bonus features are included in the listed running time.

On amazon, usually the running time listing is for the main feature alone. At least that's my experience.

I certainly hope the BD/DVD has something new that didn't air on PBS. It wasn't a bad doc, but it was trying to do way too much in a very short time. They tried to do a very truncated band history/biography, debut live tour footage, and discuss the new album all in 55 minutes, and there's no way that could ever work.

And now Amazon says...
DVD Release Date: August 28, 2012 Run Time: 55 minutes
No longer 90 minutes. It's the same special, without bonus features.

Hmm.. somewhat disappointing. I still have a digital copy so I guess I won't be buying the DVD so soon. Waiting for the tour DVD instead...

For the longest time, the special had the title "Summer's Gone". We then heard about Brian changing his mind about this being the last Beach Boys album and then the special's name changed to "Doin' It Again" at the last minute. Still though, they probably could have thought of something better, even under short circumstances.

There are people who have taken LSD thousands of times and are as sane as Jeff Foskett. Well, that's a bad example, because Jeff hates Love You and that's INSANE.

If this the only DVD release we get from the tour, I will be VERY DISAPPOINTED! This was such a great and historic tour that we deserve a proper live DVD. There are lots of recordigs floating around, but there needs to be an official release.
Awile back, Mike mentioned a live CD/DVD comming out in the fall, I hope this isn't what he meant.

I heard, maybe on Facebook but probably here, that they are using the Red Rocks concert for the Live DVD. In fact, The Moody Blues one filmed there is very good, especialy the shots of the crowd and the surroundings
