One act for all time----would it be the BB?

If I were physically forced to confine my listening activities to one act, it would be the Boys, as a band and as solo artists. Other acts have repertoires that attract me----Beefheart/Magic Band, Zappa/Mothers, Fripp/King Crimson, Gary Numan, U2----but I really think nobody comes close to the sheer variety (also meaning variety in depth and quality) of that of The Beach Boys. Plenty, I would say, to get one's teeth into for the rest of one's years.
Do you agree? Or would you opt for another act? Or a composer perhaps?

As much as I love other artists and other kinds of music, it would have to be the Beach Boys (group and solo) for me. Nothing else gives me that sense of freedom and open spaces. And nothing else ranges from 'Til I Die to Fun, Fun, Fun.

It would be the Beach Boys just as long as I was able to include EVERYTHING any of them have EVER recorded. [including all solo materials ... with 1
obvious
exception where it just doesn't matter one iota/whatsoever.]
Bob Marley and the Wailers would come a very close 2nd.
Beatles a more distant 3rd.
After that I'd really have to think about exactly who would come close to being considered for this.

It could be the Beach Boys...could be the Beatles....but I suspect when it really came down to it, it would be Bob Dylan or the Kinks. Or Johnny Cash. Or Elvis Presley.

It would be Coltrane for me, but if allowed 2, the Beach Boys would be the other.

The Beach Boys, no contest. I'd estimate that I listen to them 362 days out of the average year. I can't imagine listening anyone else half that much.

I ration my BB, Beatles, and Spector, so as not to grow tired of them, but of the three, I'd say Spector for the desert island, the whole discography, all the artists.

Three I could not live without:
Beach Boys
Beatles
Laura Nyro
My favorite composers? You mean instrumental tracks?
That would be Brian Wilson and John Barry.

Mine would be The Beach Boys, no doubt about it. I don't think I could live without ever hearing GV or GOK again.
Shoutout to Phil Spector, The Beatles, and David Bowie for being other contenders.

Want to add another classical composer, though he lived in modern times (sorta):
Sergei Rachmaninoff

Beach Boys for sure.
But I'd be sad to not hear Bowie or R.E.M again for the rest of my life. Don't wanna say I could live without the Beatles, but they're so much a part of me that I can hear them in my head anytime I want. And if I can take my ukulele with me to this desert island, then I can play and sing Beatles songs as much as I want
And Bowie and R.E.M. tunes too, I guess.... but just not the same.

I wouldn't pick Beatles because of their limited catalog and also its irritating over-exposure, though much of the Boys work is terribly over-exposed. Also find their later stuff to be pretty weedy. But yes, the Boys wear remarkably well in general....Never especially a big fan, but Zappa/Mothers a lot of music to plough through, maybe a good desert island pick as you would have plenty of time on your hands.

There's no way I could ever be limited to just one artist. The lowest I'll go is three!
1). The Beach Boys
2). The Beatles
3). The Kinks
The Beach Boys are definitely my favorite group, but there's no way I could go the rest of my life without hearing Sgt. Pepper's or The Village Green Preservation Society ever again!

Just one.....
For me, it would be Pink Floyd.
Followed by
The Beatles
Deep Purple
Rainbow (maybe I could just lump all of Ritchie Blackmore's music into one??)
Queen
The Beach Boys
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
The Who
Van Halen
