Another fantastic album!
10. Take a load off your feet - Surprised this gets so much love. I hate this song. Al and Mike should never write songs.
9. Don't go near the water - See above.
8. Student Demonstration Time - I know this gets a lot of hate but Mike sounds great on this.
7. Long Promised Road - Love this. Great feel to it.
6. Feel Flows - Same as above. Carl really nails this.
5. Disney Girls - Bruce's best and it lightens up the album.
4. Lookin' at Tomorrow (A Welfare Song) - Love it. Despite what I said for 10 and 9 Al proves he can write an ok song if only a good rip off song.
3. A Day in the Life of a Tree - Mixed feelings. SOmetimes I think it's beautiful and sometimes I think it's a grand put on by Brian.
2. Surf's Up - Amazing. One of their best songs
1. 'Til I Die - One of my favorite songs ever. This is a true masterpiece. Maybe my favroite songs in the world.

"A Day in the Life of a Tree" is anything but a put-on. At least that's the way I always felt about it.

I DO love the live version of SDT. The Carnegie Hall 1972 concert version is mind-blowing.

"Don't Go Near the Water" is an exemplar of a song that is made good by its production. The lyrics are pretty terrible but goshdarn do they ever sing the f*** out of them, especially Al! And is it just me or is there a lot of odd percussion/noises going on throughout the backing track?

Well, there's the drum kit and tambourine - the farty/watery synth could class into this category too. Ah, but whats this weird one after the bridge? A cabasa? It sounds like it's trying to be a vibraslap with out the sustain or the slap.

Well put.
And I think the tag/coda is rather stunning.
And I think I'm gonna have to listen through cans again for those percussives. Ta!

Feel Flows
SDT (It rocks)
Looking At Tomorrow (Cool until Al Scats lol. No I like it a lot)

Long Promised Road
Disney Girls (1957)
Feel Flows
Don't Go Near the Water
Looking at Tomorrow (A Welfare Song)
Take a Load off your Feet
A Day in the Life of a Tree (Sorry, Riley can't sing. Put Carl Wilson as lead and this song rockets up.)

1
"Surf's Up"
: one of Brian's masterpieces. I love Carl's vocal. It provides a nice contrast for when Brian comes in. I feel like this song belongs on this album. And I also feel this is the definitive version of this song.
2
"'Til I Die"
: another one of Brian's masterpieces. Just beautiful. Wonderful vocals.
3
"Feel Flows"
: one of Carl's best. Such a great vibe. Who cares what the lyrics mean?
4
"A Day In The Life Of A Tree"
: shouldn't work but it does. The fade is superb.
5
"Lookin' At Tomorrow"
: pretty. I like the phasing or whatever. Possibly my favorite "Al" song.
6
"Take A Load Off Your Feet"
: cute song. Nothing crazy. I don't mind it though. It's a good light moment on a "heavy" album.
7
"Don't Go Near The Water"
: decent tune. Might not have started the album with it, but its cool. Somewhat goofy, but also comes off as "real".
8
"Disney Girls"
: it's nice. It's Bruce, through and through. I don't really care for the message, and I think it's lame that this got played at most of the C50 shows. Did we really need a Bruce showcase?
9
"Long Promised Road"
: can't really understand all the love for this. I dig the verses, but the chorus comes off kinda cheesy to me.
10
"Student Demonstration Time"
: this just smacks of trying to be hip. I wouldn't even care if Brian Wilson wrote it. "Riot in Cell Block #9" is great though. Mike trying to change that sh*t isn't.

Whatever you think about Student Demonstration Time, you can admit it's a great track ? The lyrics might be flawed, but you can't deny the power of that track, right?!?
Reportedly, the last song DW drummed on before busting his hand up? (Didn't he say that or is my mind clouded by this bastardly strong coffee?)

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

1) Never heard about that. Would be cool, though.

1. Surf's Up (Carl's vocal far surpasses any that I've heard by Brian)
2. Long Promised Road
3. Feel Flows
4. Till I Die
5. Disney Girls (1957)
6. Take A Load Off Your Feet
7. Don't Go Near The Water
8. A Day In The Life Of A Tree (Just for the ending alone.)
9. Student Demonstration Time (Should have kept it as Riot in Cell Block #9)
10. Lookin' At Tomorrow (Where Take A Load Off... works for me, this one does not)

My favorite (this week) Beach Boys album. I don't skip any tracks, even SDT, which despite it's terrible, awful, horrible lyrics is a pretty rockin' tune. ADITLOAT also gets on my nerves sometimes. Other than those two tracks, this is such a freaking great album. If they had added Dennis' songs, which easily would have fit, it might be their best post-Pet Sounds album without question.
1. Surf's Up
2. 'Til I Die
3. Long Promised Road
4. Feel Flows
5. Disney Girls, 1957
6. Looking At Tomorrow

8. Take A Load Off Your Feet
