Tracks you'd wish was on MIC
«
on:

I was turning on my phone with MIC on it, wanted Steamboat, confident it was there but no! So I'll start with my "missing tracks" list:
1) I've got a friend (live)
2) Steamboat

More than anything, All I Wanna Do
Then Big Sur 4/4
In The Back of my mind backing track
more Love You tracks
and the (apparently) better mix of You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling.

Our Life Our Love Our Land
Gold Rush
Hard Times
We Got Love
Don't Let Me Go
All Of My Love (short, but so is 'I Believe In Miracles')
You Are So Beautiful (studio or live version)
Lookin' Down The Coast
Lucy Jones
Come To the Sunshine
1974/75 version of any of the following:
In The Back Of My Mind
Angel Come Home
River Song
Good Timin'
I Want To Pick You Up
Rainbows
Pacific Ocean Blue
furthermore:
Deep Purple
Life Is For The Living
Still I Dream Of It (with same style remixing as was done on It's Over Now (alternate mix))
Cool Cool Water
River Deep Mountain High
Lady Lynda or Full Sail (Brian's Back was not appropriate imo)
Big Sur 4/4
not saying all of this should be out ofc, but more of it could certainly make the cut. Even if only a couple of them. Transcendental Meditiation, Pom Pom Girl and Don't Go Near The Water (both versions) could easily face the axe.

Carry Me Home
My Solution
It's Trying to Say
Lines
Life is For The Living
Deep Purple
Everybody Wants To Live
On Broadway
Big Sur alt
Seasons in the Sun
Barnyard (sans fly-ins)
Fire (sans fly-ins)
Child is Father of the Man (Brian edit)
I'm Going Your Way
I don't care if they've already been booted, I want them officially with good sound quality.
Also - more Jasper Dailey tracks. There should be a worldwide search going on for them. "Teeter Totter Love" was THE highlight of the entire Smile Sessions box.

Early version of Big Sur (the one wth more prominent vocals and ''waltz-style'')
Stephen Desper mix of 'Till I Die (why not?)

23. You’re Riding High on the Music
24. It’s a New Day
25. Little Red Book
26. River Song live
27. Lookin' At Tomorrow (the live prog rock version!)

I can't remember why I originally had two lists. Clearly, some of these are not the best things the Boys (in any form) worked on, but I'd love clean copies; on top of that, the existence of some of these as finished songs is uncertain, but if they do exist: yes please.

If you're labelling those as rarities, they're pretty easy to get on one comp. In the UK at least.

Recently auctioned Durrie Parks acetates.
Child Is Father Of The Man BW edit
In The Back Of My Mind backing track - one of the single greatest pieces Brian recorded. Completely ruined by DW's vocal. Sorry but i really can't stand it.
Do You Like Worms with a lead vocal from Al with original melody line and lyrics.
The remaining tracks from the BBC Top Gear session.

Nope. Some on my list were rarities others, just charting singles I feel should have been included on the "career spanning boxed set." Hence, the additional inclusion of "Then I Kissed Her".

*Big Sur 4/4
*Won't You Tell Me (Brian and Carl's vocals aligned better.)
*What Can the Matter Be?
*You Never Give Me Your Money
*Clean copies of the original edits of Loop de Loop, When Girls Get Together, Good Time and Lady.
*An instrumental version of Sherry.
*Adult/Child
You can't get everything though
Something tells me there will be a Sunflower/Surf's Up box in a few years. At least I hope lol.

There are only two others, and there's no need to search - same place as "TTL" was.

Well my kids will be happy. They thought Teeter Totter Love was hilarious and much better than cd2 of the Smile box set which they found somewhat repetitive. "dad put teeter totter on again..it's hilarious...dad..this one's boring put on teeter totter"
I'm sure i remember reading that the other acetates by Jasper were lost but thanks for confirming they exist or have emerged in some form Andrew. As my kids are fast asleep right now i'll just make two additions (on their behalf) to my earlier list re Durrie Parks acetates, Big Als Big Dig Worm lead vocal etc.
and my children want to know why MIC did not include
Crack The Whip
When I Get Mad I Just Play My Drums

I'm kinda of two minds. I like having more unreleased stuff to look forward to. So I'm glad they didn't empty the vault (just as I never expected them to!)
Anyways, here's a few that I would like to see released in the future:
"My Little Red Book" (1968)
"Carry Me Home" (1972)
"Lucy Jones" (1974)
"In The Back Of My Mind" (1975)
"Calendar Girl" (1978)
"Little Girl" (1979)
"I'll Always Love You" (1979)
"Why Didn't I Tell You?" (1979)
"Smokey Places" (1979)
"Stevie" (1981)
"Sweetie" (1981)
and then a few that might not have vocals or be totally finished, but would still be interesting:
"Spark In The Dark" (1972)
"Baby I Need Your Lovin'/Gimme Some Lovin'" (1972?)
"Rooftop Harry" (1972)
"Brian's Jam" (1974)
All kinds of other stuff would still be interesting by the way. Backing tracks, early version, vocals-only versions. There is still a lot of interesting Beach Boys and Brian Wilson stuff to be released.
Quote from: A. Pismo Clam on October 09, 2013, 03:32:22 PM
So, given this lack of so other real rarities, are people a little ambivalent about MIC?
I'm not sure if this is a joke or something, but no, not me at least. Thanks to the release of the set, I now have stuff I'd dreamt about for years, like "Where Is She?" and the demo of "California Feelin'", not to mention great stuff like "(Wouldn't It Be Nice To) Live Again", the official Beach Boys version of "California Feelin'", the live "Wild Honey" with Blondie on vocals, "You're Still A Mystery", "Back Home", and lots of other stuff.

A few years back, a doobie bros boxed set came out, filled with hits, rarities, live tracks. But for whatever reason, Without You was omitted. Many collectors and fans, though they probably had purchased the song 10x over, were astonished. I feel the same way about MIC omitting Then i Kissed Her. Glaring oversight on an otherwise great box. it just doesn't feel complete without it. Salt lake city, which I don't think anyone was clamoring for, could have easily been dropped in favor of it. A cool but inessential album track with a 12 year old mix...it would not really have been missed.

I can't believe no one has said Long Promised Road
IMO Long Promised Road > Feel Flows, but since Cameron Crowe expressed his love of Feel Flows and placed it prominently in Almost Famous, Feel Flows has, in the words of another poster on here, become the go-to "Carl as artist" track. I still prefer Long Promised Road

As I said, I totally agree. And that's a perfect comparison with the Doobies too.
