Springtime is officially here! Are you pickin' up the Good Vibrations like me? What better time to watch and listen to the video for this Beach Boys classic with upgraded sound and video elements. I hope you'll check it for some Good Good Good Vibrations! This is continuing my project for updating all of my previously posted Smile videos. Much more to come over the next couple months.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / March has just blown in with a new 'Wind Chimes' video

“March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.” ― English Proverb Spring is coming! March, the windiest and most blustery of all months has just arrived, and brings with it a video for the appropriately titled Beach Boys song 'Wind Chimes'. This is new video that builds on my previous 'Wind Chimes' video and is very different from that one. This video is maybe around 80% new. I'm in a process of revisiting all my old Smile videos to see where they need to be upgraded and hope to be finished soon. This is why I have so many videos being uploaded in a relatively short amount of time. I hope you you'll check out the new video and if you do, I hope you like it. Wind Chimes- https://youtu.be/436lbdin8hc

I've wanted to do a long post for a while but just haven't had the energy to do so.
Anyways though, has anybody pointed out that Brian is singing some kinda lyrics during "Spark in the Dark"? Maybe it was more of a song and less of a "jam" than we were lead to believe.
Interesting that the "spark in the dark" phrase came to be used in 'Funky Pretty' but I don't hear any connection musically. Maybe someone else would? But yes, it seems to me that the rhythm of the notes in 'Spark In the Dark' strongly suggest the same rhythm that could be used for the words "spark in the dark". I hear the words softly sung at about 1:29 as "Used to be the flame in your heart, now I'm just a flash in the dark". The 'Spark In The Dark' track sounds like it could have been the basis for a cool song in 1972. I saw it being suggested that at least some the of this track later inspired the Brian Wilson/ Andy Paley song 'Chain Reaction of Love'.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Video for 'The Little Girl I Once Knew' on YouTube now

During the process of creating this video, I grew to fully appreciate the stunning production of this record in a way that I never had before. You get to listen to the song a LOT of times! The change in key on the third chorus was such a great move on Brian's part to take this record to it's peak. This record was never a favorite of mine. Thought it was kind of cringey: a guy going after a girl. But a viewer suggested that I do it, and I'm glad I did. Now I see the song differently and I'm proud of the video that I made for it and hope others think I did it justice.

Beautiful, as always!
Currently I'm only listening with my laptop speakers but is this a different mix of the song?
Thanks, Rocker! This is a slight remix. The audio is the 2012 Remaster, however I amplified some verrry hard to hear vocal lines to make them more prominent. I wanted to do that without overwhelming the original vocal mix which is so beautiful. The lines were: "I took the one most traveled by", "It made a difference to me", "Life's how the river flows", and "Why all the love in nature glows". I would say those vocal parts are probably at least three times louder.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Is it fair to call for an artist to quit?

As a professional artist, as long as there are people that support your art financially by paying to hear your music or see your concerts, then I don't see why any artist should quit their chosen vocation and means of income unless they want to. As an amateur or hobbyist, as long as making your art gives you joy, then anything else should be irrelevant. To answer the original question, no, it's not fair or even anyone's business to call for an artist to quit making their art, but people can make their opinion heard with their wallets.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: New Song Question

I think this record really hits the sweet spot. I'm over the fact that Brian is never going to be a great vocalist again and I think this collaboration between Pure Brian and Jim James is very very good. It's honest, is the best word to describe it. I think the autobiographical aspect and melody of the song itself are good too and I can be critical if I think it's deserved. But this is one of the good ones.
