And now for some news on the other favorite subject of Andrew's: German football (soccer).

Trust me, to a Man U fan, right now German soccer seems like a fine option.  Shocked

But I want to hear more about your butler

Note the item on the shelf saying "The Beach Boys" in SMiLE font. Anybody here who knows what that might be?

Umm. Good Vibrations/H&V 78rpm single from Record store day. How did you miss that?

Now to a more important issue: Which headphones do I use with the first 'Smile Sessions' listen? ;

My Grado SR-60s, my in-ear AKG Q350's, or in fact my good old studio AKG K240 closed-back's? :D

That's from National Record Day. It had the first official hint about SMiLE in it (a card saying coming soon).

That's a 78 rpm cover? I didn't look out for the cover art. Boy, this guy IS a SMiLE fan!

Yesterday Hannover scored twice against the goalkeeper Man U tried to get last summer. Is that a consolation?

Hardened old cynic and curmudgeon that I am, when the box arrives I will spend maybe half an hour just sitting with it in my hands, unopened, looking at it... running my fingertips over it... hugging it to my chest now and then as I rock back and forth gently smiling, eyes closed. I will very probably weep a little with pure joy.

Because this is a day I never expected to see.  Smiley

So, is there any chance of orders going out early?  This is the first time I've dealt with Amazon, so I'm not sure how their shipments generally work.  Do shipments ever go out and arrive before the release date?  I can wait until Nov. 1, but I certainly wouldn't complain if the box arrived earlier!

Dunno about Amazon...I'm guessing if you specifically ordered it to arrive on the day of the release, it IS possible...chances are they're approximating the ship-by date.

However, I ordered The Beatles In Mono through Best Buy, also with the "arrive on release day" option. The release date: September 9, 2009. When I returned to my desk after my lunch break the DAY BEFORE, it was on my desk!

Fingers crossed....

Damn, Ronnie - you're really good, man! I have all your 'artwork' in a little folder on my desktop. The one with the SMiLE album in the fire gets me! And the advertizing billboard with all the SMiLE release dates up until now - Ha Ha!  Grin

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Question for those with a better ear than mine (and the ability to turn the volume up) - are the samples in the MP3 player embedded on this page http://www.beachboys-smile.de from the box set?  I'd imagine they were (and they sound new to these ears,) but I can't really give them a good listen @ work.

I'm not listening to more than a second, but some board members might go nuts in 4...3...2...1.....
