Wish I could have met Carl. He was one of the good guys. You wonder how much unreleased Carl material is still sitting in a vault somewhere. Earlier today, I wrote about Carl & The Passions -- So Tough and included some new quotes from Jon Stebbins and Andrew. Minutes after I had published it, Brian's Twitter feed mentioned that today would have been Carl's 67th birthday. Fortuitous timing...

I wish I could have met him or at least seen him perform live as well. He seemed like a good soul and he is definitely missed. Happy birthday Carl!

I did meet him once, in 1983, and babbled like the incoherent fan I was. Just loved the man and his music, and he was taken from us way too soon.

A very well written piece, Jeremy. CATP was an early purchase in my fandom (1990). In particular, when the stylus started to play the last three tracks on side 2, I was in sonic heaven

Happy Birthday to Mr. Good-Natured! My favorite story about Carl is where he used to mock Nick Venet by imitating his odd accent & voice. Seems like he was fun to hang around with even in those early "shy" times. (In general, all the BBs' interviews taken for the Rock Cellar mag are fascinating read, they're not formulaic.)

To RangeRover, that story brought a smile to my face.
CW was one of the great ones, love him dearly -- to this day.

Lonely Summer, what else stands out regarding your 1983 meeting with Carl? Can you tell us how the quick M&G came about?
And Metal Flake Paint, I appreciate your thumbs up very much. Many thanks!

Greatest voice ever.
RIP Carl!
I echo that sentiment, Shady. I was away from my computer yesterday, so I'll add a belated "Happy Birthday" to my brother (in spirit) Carl Wilson. Rest in Peace, Great Man!

From Mike's facebook page on the 21st:
Today we celebrate Carl's birthday...It's hard to believe that it has been 15 years since his passing, but he is in our thoughts everyday and with us in music every night! I miss you Cousin. Peace and Love......ML
