The Battle Hymn Of The Republic was one of Brian Wilson's great put-ons (...)

Are you sure? I'm always hoping to find out someday that Lazy Lizzie, Hey Little Tomboy and the whole 15 Big Ones album were just a big put-on.  Wink

I agree with Bubba, a Still Cruisin' plus all those other eighties tracks that are scattered between singles, soundtracks and Made in USA would be fine. I even compiled a CD like this. There's enough decent material so that the die-hard fan can program a 35 minute album out of that mess.

Getting back on topic. Someone gave some sort of description of Teeter Totter Love a while back. Anyone got it?

I don't have it saved but I remember clearly that one insider who had listened to the track said it sucked.

Maybe it's like "My Little Red Book", the idea of a Brian version of this song recorded during Smile was really interesting, till the day I heard it and blah.

Hmm. it's supposed to be released in March, but no pre-sales online yet? Weird. But if Capitol had announced it just to cancell it in a few weeks, we'd all be pissed. I guess they learned their lesson withe the BB.

Anyway, they certainly were Brian's artistic vision, and a far cry better than anything else the BB had done in almost 20 years.

I've heard that "Soul Searching" was Paley's vision of a bland soul vamp. Come on, it's a fine little song but I think I even like "Goin' On" better than SS. Now "Still A Mystery" was much better.

I love Marilyn's voice on that line.

I do too, But I'm a fan. If this was Ms. McGuinn ruining the bridge of "Chestnut Mare" I think I wouldn't be so understanding.

"Heaven, Heaven is far away, Angels no longer play"

I Just put Adult Child to play... Boy this line defines "singing in the shower".

I think it's gonna sound fanboyish, but his vocals in On Broadway sound VERY Alan Jardine. Specially the "Cause I can play this here guitar" line. But I suspect any outside listener would consider this version mediocre.

If you love that heavy-handed keyboard riff style that Brian also used in Airplane, go for it.

Unleash The Love, Everyone's in Love with You, Brian's Back - good

Pisces Brothers, Glow Crescent Glow, Daybreak - so, so

Cool Head, Anything For You, 10.000 Years, Love Foundation, Only One World - mediocre but generally well produced and harmless

Too Cruel, I Don’t Wanna Know - I don't have those

There You are. Thank God the rapping wasn't done by the Lovester. Is there any Dennis left in 10.000 Years? This one had some potential if produced like a POB track, but the production here is annoying at best.

I was quite surprised by some tracks.
1362  Smiley Smile Stuff / 1960's Beach Boys Albums / Re: Wild Honey on: January 03, 2006, 02:47:55 AM
Bruce says he just played bass on the one song, Wild Honey, as was already mentioned.

He mentioned also that he played the "cheezy organ solo" in the Wild Hony track.
1363  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Jameson vs. Kaye-who was the hottest session bassist? on: January 02, 2006, 08:57:56 AM
So what are Carol Kaye's shining moments on the bass?

With Jamerson all you have to do is listen to I Was Made To Lover Her or Bernadette to hear what a genius he is.

Anyone else see the irony in this post....?   Wink

Not me. Please enlighten us.  Wink

We'd still have no dennis' tracks in Surf's Up.  Wink
