Title: The Mike Love Love Thread
Post by: SIP Mike on September 24, 2013, 08:54:39 AM
There should be a place to express all the positive sentiments we've all developed towards Mike and his journey through life. He's touched us all along the way.

Thank you for the ride Michael :tm

To Mike, his weird visage and nasal tone, I offer simple Rock applause

Mike Love is a walking, talking, chicken dancing oxymoron.  ;D

(well somebody had to upset the Love Cart, capsize the Love Boat, etc etc)

I always imagine the BG vocal singing "lookin back ooo lookin back" as Brian's raspy Love You voice. It would be so much better that way.

I love his bass vocals. All I Wanna Do kicks some serious ass. He does a great Monster Mash too. Let's pick on Bruce instead. Bruce recently slagged the Friends album. What up?!?!

Love to love the Lovester.

He's a passionate guy and has a vision - if not always a great vision :lol - to still be gettin' out there is an admirable thing.

He should change the lyric to "wheeeeeeen some loud jagger tries to put you down"

Better yet for montage video there should be that "moves like jagger" song

"Hi. I'm Bryn Terfel, bass-bariton singer, and famous all over the world. But I must admit that I've always been terribly jealous of mr Michael Edward Love, who outclasses me in all departments. I've even contemplated letting his dinner be poisoned at one point, when my envy had driven me into deep depression. But I am glad that mr Love is alive and kicking.

Mike, you kick ass!

Love, Bryn."

Controversial opinion here, but I think ML has gone out of his way to protect the 'harmonious' image of the Beach Boys by not talking about Dennis much after his death. I think Mike really disliked Dennis and spares little time to mourn him. Quite wisely, he shut up about it rarther than open old wounds. I'm sure Dennis was as much an A*hole towards Mike as Mike could ever be to anyone. The newest interview where Brian states his only touring memory of them in Florida during the early days was Mike and Dennis fighting.

Kudos to Mike for burrying the hatchet.

Desegregation, Woodstock nation, good vibration, assassination, demonstration, battle station, cosmic creation, my generation...

You can tell me I need to get my mind out of the gutter but am I the only one who kept expecting him to say masturbation?

He still has both legs even after all of this time. And he can walk a quarter of a mile with the least bit of assistance. And he has the balls enough to wear a sailor hat in public without actually being a sailor. A toast to Mike Love, you come from a pretty good vocal group!

Yeah, I agree. In the end though, the result of their writing was one of my favorite songs. It's a real gem.

If you're going to disagree, seems like some evidence would help in your argument...not just saying no and insisting you're correct  ;D

The first halves of the verses are the second worst thing on TWGMTR, but the gorgeous chorus saves the song for me.

Good version of Barbara Ann, I'd say. Contrary to most of the hardcore fans, I really enjoy this song coz it's too catchy to ignore & not singalong to. Don't care if it's by M&B, Brian & Co, Al with Family & Friends, C50 or The Beach Boys (1965-1998) in unity. Now, the entire cheerleader-holds-guitar thing was very unnecessary & indeed creepy. Mr. Totten always seemed to me square, one of the sanest people in the extended BBs circle; I certainly didn't expect him to be crazy like that. That said, his pom-pom-playing & dancing movements were quite funny. "Scott Totten, The Ballerina of the Band" - sounds cool, esp. considering his skinny stature & gentle gestures.
