OK, this is probably weird, but ...

... I've been listening to Cuckoo Clock obsessively for several days, because listening to it at one point make me realize it sounds like something else ... but I can't figure out what it is that it sounds like. One particular later BB song? Some other song by another group? Or maybe several similar songs?

One thing I did realize was, it kinda-sorta-vaguely reminds me of some sort of crude version of Let Him Run Wild. Imagine this:

When I watched you walk with him
Tears filled my eyes
And when I heard you talk with him
I couldn't stand his lies
And now before he tries it
I hope you realize it

Cuckoo cuckoo (go away silly bird)
Cuckoo cuckoo (go away silly bird)
Cuckoo cuckoo (go away silly bird)
Cuckoo cuckoo

Etc. Or maybe this: (with only one verse before the refrain):

We knew it must have been late
(Tick-tock tick-tock)
We had no time to wait
(Tick-tock tick-tock)
I went to light the fireplace
(Tick-tock tick-tock)
I planned it all this way and

Let him run wild
He don't care
Let him run wild
He'll find out
Let him run wild
He don't care

LOL!!!  LOL

But anyway on further reflection I don't think that's what I was thinking of. So it still bugs me.

Think of the song played slowly ... and I could swear it sounds like some other song. But what? Or maybe I'm just going nuts?

To me, it sounds Like "Zing! Went the Strings Of My Heart":

^Yeah, it does sound a little like that. However, I'd never heard that Judy Garland song before, so it's obviously not the one I was thinking of.

I'll probably be driving down the road somewhere 2 years from now, and hear the song I'm thinking of on the radio, and suddenly proclaim, "That's IT!"

The refrain reminds me of the refrain and tag of Cabin Essence...

Interestingly, a few days before I noticed a similarity between "Heads You Win" from that album and "Isn't It Time". The verses have nearly the same chord progression, and even the same key.

They're somewhat alike. As I said above, you have to imagine Cuckoo Clock slowed down. Also, it's just the verses, not the refrain.

I'm not totally sure it's At My Window I might have been thinking of, but when I listened to At My Window I had one of those "That's it - I think" moments, so I think it probably was. Maybe I'll listen to some other song sometime and realize this other song sounds even closer than At My Window.

At the time, about every second American pop song had that chord progression. So it could be any of them.

Coo Coo just might be my favorite song on the SS album. Great song doesn't get enough mention!
