Not finding a topic devoted to summer music (incredible!) I decided to launch one myself. Okay, it's already August but better late than never.
This is my favourite right now: "Her Face Forms In Summertime" by The Future Sound of London. That guitar sound is to
die
for!

Great to see this topic taking off.
Here's another I consider to be a quintessential summer song, "Summer Breeze" by The Isley Brothers:

Summertime’s Calling Me by The Catalinas is one of the masterworks of Carolina beach music. Hopefully it’ll get a lot of new fans from being played on the Sirius XM channel that replaced The Beach Boys one.
The funny thing is, much as many famous Christmas songs and records were actually written and cut in summertime, the Catalinas’ song was written in December 1975... during a snowstorm in the Great Smoky Mountains, no less. More on that here:

Cool info! Thanks. Really glad you like this great song too, rn57. & you're right, many should hear it to be in positive summertime mood.

I heard this gorgeous slab of sultriness on a restaurant terrace during a scaldingly hot day last week while on a brief holiday. The waitress (or was she the proprietress?) very kindly checked the title (it was part of a Spotify playlist)--it was a thing called "April" by a band or someone called Beaumont. It's here:
https://open.spotify.com/track/0mhT0BhwcGeA6sPLNPZLoQ
Enjoy! Regrettably I don't belong to Spotify (or the couple other places it's to be found) so I won't be joining you.
With a little research I've discovered that Beaumont was a Swiss band active from 2001 to 2005 consisting of Gael Kyriakidis (aka Pony del Sol, vocals), Mathieu Kyriakidis (keys), Simon Cochard (guitar), Meinrad Thalman (bass) and Fabrice Seydoux (drums). [

Ha! JK is not one to give up easily. It's here on SoundCloud, under the name of Beaumont keyboard player Mathieu Kyriakidis, who wrote the music. His sister Gael (here with feathered friend) wrote and joyously sings the lyrics.
What a magical holiday moment
that
was!
