This song is a tricky one. It's from Side 2 of Today, so one is supposed to like it, but I don't. And Dennis is the lead singer, so you're supposed to like his (rare) lead vocal, but I don't. And most BB biographies/books praise this song, but I still don't get it.

And see...that's what makes me dislike it even more. It gets all this praise, and besides the track itself, I can't stand it.

Yeah, that part is alright. It's that damned tempo change that does it for me.

I think it would've worked better as an instrumental. It's not just the vocals themselves...it's the *rhythm* of the vocals that bother me. It sounds clunky and forced. I don't think any other singer could've made it work.

And I don't see what so horrible about Winds Of Change...

I hate the production, and Al sounds like Kermit the Frog.

I seriously don't like the vocals on it, and personally feel the rhythm is off. I also hate the ending. To me, it's seriously overrated.

for me..School Days, Endless Harmony, In the Back of My Mind, Don't Back Down (my least fav. vocal by Brian from the "Classic Era" besides the following), that cuckoo clock song from the first album, Winds of Change, the carl version of Oh Darlin, I'm So Lonely, and Still Cruisin (mainly for the plastic, brittle production)

I actually prefer Incesticide to In Utero; I know it was a compilation of pre-Nevermind material, but IMHO it has better, more creative songs (albeit with truly dodgy drumming in parts)

And even that ended with a "Shortenin Bread" style riff. Overall good song,though, and I like that as a cut-off point for originality. I would argue the point for"Walking in the Path of Life", "Christmasey" and "What I really Want for Christmas", though. But yeah, besides those, just about everything else is a remake.

I don't think that't Brian's doing as much as his "people". Let's see though how this 4-part project he's unveiling later this year works out before we get too worked up. He does need to let PS rest though; it's becoming much like the oldies are for Mike & Bruce. Really sad, and strange too...never foresaw PS being done to death. Who'd have ever forseen that?!

So why doesn't Brian play any shows in the Southeast US these days? Some of us fans can't afford the luxury of travelling to other parts of the country or the world to catch these shows.

He could sing "Shortenin' Bread" for two hours as far as I'm concerned, as long as there was not the smallest trace of "Barbara-fodaing-Ann" in the show.

Is there any evidence to suggest Brian played bass on the album at all, or did he last play bass on SDSN (or Pet Sounds)?

Brian seems to have played much of the bass for Smiley Smile, with bass cameos on SDSN and Pet Sounds.

I think that by comparing the sound of the bass when we know Ron Brown is playing (TTGA, live on tour) to other tracks it can be infered that he played on a lot of WH tracks.

Is "he" meaning Brian or Ron, in this case?
