Always fascinating to get a glimpse into the family lives of the Beach Boys, but--perhaps tellingly--there is precious little evidence of a close-knit nature with the Wilsons, who are represented in the video only by a single picture with Milt and Audree.
Wonder what Glee's take was on her brother Murray...
I remember reading in Peter Ames Carlin's book that Murry could do no wrong in Glee's eyes because he knocked out their dad (Buddy Wilson) when he was beating up on their mother.

Thieves!!! Trying to make off with The Band and claiming them as American? Really? And CSN and Y? They're only 50% "American" Does that suddenly mean that Jay and the Americans were Canadian? They were just visiting that "little cafe just the other side of the border"... ... ...IN MEXICO!!! Tell you what. You guys can HAVE Justin Beiber. What next? You'll make off with The Guess Who? BTO? The 5 Man Electrical Band? April Wine? Rush? Loverboy? Trooper? Steppenwolf? Oh and the LEAD singers from Blood Sweat and Tears [David Clayton Thomas], The Mamas and the Papas [Denny Doherty] ... ... ...? Canadians. The Drummers from Mountain [Corky Laing] and 3 Dog Night [Roy Snead] ... ... ...Canadians. The Guitarists from The Rascals [Gene Cornish] and the Lovin Spoonful [Zal Yanofsky] ... ... ... Canadians. And that's just part of the big picture. There's The Tragically Hip, Lighthouse, Crowbar...with a C for Canada...Saga, Triumph, The Ugly Ducklings, The Trews, Barenaked Ladies, Colin James and the Little Big Band, Great Big Sea, The Jeff Healey Band, Glass Tiger, The Sheepdogs, Blue Rodeo, Red Rider, Max Webster... ... ...and Nickelback...well OK...we won't count THEM. There's Chilliwack, The Powder Blues...The Downchild Blues Band, McKenna Mendelson Mainline...and we're not even talking about individual Pop icons like Leonard Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell or Alanis Morrisette. Then there's the French [Francophone] side of the Canadian coin. And it's impressive too. Music. Ain't it Grand? ----------------------------------------- I wonder... ... ...if there's an American band...and by that I mean a REAL American band...that's played in Canada more than the Beach Boys have...including Brian added in as a bonus? I doubt it. [I'm not counting those package tours that come through every year with 5 or 6 acts doing 4 or 5 songs each. I mean as a full show/as headliners.] The Beach Boys [and Brian] have always been HUGE up here. Don't forget Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Leslie Feist, Stars, Metric, Rheostatics, Sloan, Tegan and Sara, Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, Moxy Fruvous...

They are the perpetrators of the crimes they committed and, if they are Syrian refugees, the victims of the circumstances there. But that wasn't my point. My point is that, en masse, they are no different from other impoverished crowds of refugees through history. Pretending that circumstance doesn't affect peoples' behavior isn't very useful.
Thabk you for being a voice of reason. We can't live in constant fear of the "other".

I've watched most of them but thank goodness was busy last night. By the looks of it, I missed little besides a racheting-up of the pro wrestling drama.
As for the "religious freedom" equaling freedom to discriminate, sadly that's not a new development for the GOP last night. They've been touting that nonsense forever.
Oh speaking of! The 2nd District in Minnesota has a GOP primary candidate this year named Jason Lewis, running in a crowded primary in hopes of winning the retiring Rep. Kline's seat in the House. Lewis is apparently a right-wing radio talk show host. Well, it shows. One of his more spectacular arguments so far was along these lines: for those people who think legalizing gay marriage is OK because "it doesn't affect me" (if you're straight and not in that marriage), you should also have made that argument regarding slavery because if someone else owns slaves, you still don't have to, and so it doesn't affect you.
Yep. That's real. And it's just one of his many fabulous statements. (Hint: not a fan of feminism, seemingly women in general, or the Civil War...) Ladies and gentlemen, the state that gave you Michele Bachmann is at it again. Hopefully, him being in the less looney-bin 2nd rather than Bachmann's batshit crazy 6th district, he won't win the nomination. (State party officials are already distancing themselves from him.)
You guys also gave us Paul Wellstone and Al Franken, so its not all bad.

The songs on OCA are great but I jcan't get past Brian's vocals enough to fully enjoy it. There's a video on youtube of VDP singing the title track himself at a piano, it sounded much more pleasant to my ears than the wall of Brians on the album version.

I'm excited for the new album from ex-Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page. It's been 5 years since his last record and I'm getting antsy. His last album felt more like a BNL record than the actual past 3 BNL records put out by his ex-bandmates (Who are still phenomenal musicians and a great live act, but they've been giving into trends and sounding more and more generic with each new album.)

I feel like I care less about the Super Bowl each year. I might be tempted to rewatch the McCartney, Stones, Prince, Tom Petty, and Bruce Springsteen halftime shows on YouTube though. Those halftime shows were really great for a few years. The Who was a disappointment and after that, they started to skew younger and became more of a spectacle than a concert.
I nominate the Flaming Lips for next year's halftime show!
