I just saw this ad from the 50s and it got me wondering when the term "beach boy" was first used.

Waikiki Beach Boys - the local surf crew at Waikiki Beach in Hawaii - dates back to the early art of the 20th century (1900s). Most famouse member was Duke Kahanamoku.
