6151  Smiley Smile Stuff / Concert Reviews / Re: Beach Boys in Montclair, NJ - 4-19-2015 on: May 18, 2015, 05:36:09 AM
Great review, dellydel. I don't usually read reviews of concerts but I just kinda got sucked in by the first line and stayed the course. Sounds like it was quite a show. Pity about all that cropping though. Grin

During the coda of the song When I Grow Up (To Be a Man), as Brian starts to sing "it's kinda sad", Mike has a background vocal that I can't quite make out.

Anyone know what it is?

As far as I'm aware its just Mike going "oh no" in his bass voice

Yes indeed. You can hear it clearly in the "stack-o-vocals" version:

I find Wipe Out with the Fat Boys pretty devastating...

With the emphasis on vast... Grin

If solo stuff is included (not sure of the rules here) then there's always Cameron Diaz...

An alternative strategy would be to choose ten albums that for one reason or another are proving troublesome----albums you don't "get" in varying degrees (from just slightly to not at all). Left with just these albums, they might make more sense after repeated hearings----or not.

Mine would probably be:

Beach Boys' Party!
Friends
Carl and The Passions----So Tough
15 Big Ones
The M.I.U. Album
Keeping the Summer Alive
Youngblood
Imagination
That Lucky Old Sun
No Pier Pressure

Eighty-nine is a good age, but very sad all the same. A great loss...

Yes, definitely a trilogy, and as such it works very well.

No game----this is serious stuff requiring serious thought. A provisional list:

Surfin' USA
Little Deuce Coupe
Today!
Pet Sounds
Smiley Smile
Wild Honey
20/20
Sunflower
Surf's Up
That's Why God Made The Radio

I get my dose of evening fresh air when I walk the dog for about half an hour at half-past eight. As for reading: I generally attempt to do a couple of sudokus last thing at night (after turning this thing off). That almost always does the trick!

To use a word like "Devastating" , the only thing that comes to mind is Dennis' death.  Carl's death was equally tragic but Carl lived a good life, and was older when he passed.  Dennis died way too young, and was in a bad place when he died...

Exactly. The premature loss of human life is devastating. Anything else basically is "a pity".

That is really weird! What are they thinking of?

Defacing a war monument is pretty low. Clowns like that don't deserve the right to vote.

Too true. Assholes.

I'll drink to that too.

To all mums, present or absent!

Hi all,

I include Fifty Shades of Grey in the list of romance books.  I haven't read it and don't intend to.  The rest of you may read it.

No way. I'd rather listen to Kate Bush's 50 Words for Snow. :=)
