You know what else is b.s.? That "Many Moods of Murry" is STILL only avaliable in Japan.

Didn't get my CD from Japan. And yes, it's legit.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Many-Moods-Murry-Wilson/dp/B001SGFA3C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341120178&sr=8-1

Needledrop though, am I right?

I have this version too and yes it was taken from a needledrop. Sounds great untill you listen to it on headphones and then you can hear the odd crackle.

'dis the one I got and it's legit.

Full list of tracklists translated by Google, purely for information.

The whole lots is also to be available as a set, though apparently not a boxed set:

http://shop.emimusic.jp/shop/g/gSET-1113/:

I'm just baggudo that there're no bonus tracks.  Pet Sounds track title 11/24 is priceless. Summer Days track 3/15 is somewhat prescient.

Really amped to hear Smiley in stereo.

Interesting that they don't have a stereo I Get Around listed on All Summer Long.

Hey, AGD, any word on what we can expect from the stereo Good Vibrations and/or I Get Around? Did someone find some multitracks?

As stated before, I've had nothing to do with these reissues (why would I ?) but unless everyone's stopped talking to me, the "GV" & "IGA" missing multi-tracks remain MIA. Unless someone made a safety copy of "IGA", they're gone for good as Brian cannibalized them for the faux live version on Concert !.

So "Sutoukuto", "Fan fan fan", "yo baby dance" and "Hasshabai" don't move you, huh?

What about "Put out a healthy" ("Don't Hurt My Little Sister") or "Take Punch" ("When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)"?

Do you really read the minutiae of these posts in the requisite detail, or just scan 'em, eh?   Grin

The best one is that underrated gem on Pet Sounds, 'I'm Useless'  LOL

Wow, no sh*t. That's crazy about IGA, I always assumed that was one of the single tracked vocals from the single version. Or was it, and they overdubbed audience effects on the double? Apologies in advance if I missed a previous post about this. What a trip it would be if they included original Duophonic mixes. SOMETHING other than the mono mix has to be there in the stereo sequence.

I started extracting the vocals from both songs, just messing around. Based on what I was able to do with my minimal extraction experience, I think the folks who get paid to do extractions could possibly pull off some really good stereo mixes of both. Then again, if they had created new stereo mixes I'm sure it would be a big selling point in the advertisement.  Also, I don't know if the instrumental take used for the final section of GV is floating around. (Pretty sure the one on the common instrumental is an alternate take.)

LOL ok, as classic as those are, replacing the 'L' with an 'R' in a Japanese translator is quite epic!

And why is it that Japan gets priority for this new Beach Boys archival product, when the core of the group's fan base is in North America, The UK & Europe? Do these markets and these fans not matter to Capitol & EMI ?

Right, I forget sometimes: fans on message boards with absolutely no demographic data know more about how the record industry works than experts with years of experience and information.

It looks like they evaluated where demand would be for Beach Boys product, theorized that a reissued catalog would do well in Japan (or at least would be a good place to test such a release), and are acting on that. Alternately: the Japanese localization of the reissues is the first one ready, and the US/UK/European versions aren't. Take your pick, but there's nothing insane or unfair about this announcement.

I like to collect vinyl and i jumped on the 'Lounge' music revival bandwagon in the 1990's. I became a fan of a singer named Julie London (who is from the U.S.). Great voice and even better LP covers...she always posed in a sexy, provocative way. Her albums were released on Liberty records in the 1950's-1960's. Japan gave her entire back catalog the 'mini-lp- treatment recreating all the details of the vinyl lps. Amazing job. All the U.S. had to offer were greatest hits compilations.

As a side note - my favourite version of 'Fly me to the moon' is by Julie London. Smiley

I forgot to mention that we have a great record store called 'Jerry's Records' in my area. Jerry told me that I wouldn't believe the amount of vinyl records that are purchased in the U.S. and shipped over to Japan. Very serious vinyl collectors over there. I'm not surprised by any of this.

I'm fortunate to be within 15 minutes of Jerry's.  He has literally over a million records in that store, and millions of others in personal storage.  I think he was in an episode of Hoarders.

Also nice to see someone here on the board who has been to Jerry's Records in Pittsburgh, PA! One of my favorite stores on the planet! I bought a vinyl copy of "The Many Moods of Murray Wilson" there. The rarer Beach Boys lps don't stay in stock too long.

I wouldn't say that Jerry is a hoarder. He is a VERY serious collector. Vinyl is his life. He loves records. We're fortunate that we have him here. Many of his auctions ship over seas. Fantastic record store. It's been a little while and I need to get back there soon.  Check out his website:

Hooray For Pittsburgh Beach Boys Fans!

Jerry's is such a sweet store.  They have a pretty amazing beach boys vinyl selection but I unfortunately don't own a turntable.

I'm hoping that the "skipping" of Wild Honey, Friends and 20/20 on this Japanese site is some kind of fluke. Just speaking for myself, Friends is one of my favorite BB albums and would benefit immensely from a new mix. This was really the last complete album we got of full-on Brian arrangements utilizing the Wrecking Crew, which in my mind forms a kind of loose trilogy with Pet Sounds and SMiLE.  There's a lot of detail that would be gained from a new mix, not that it would fully "replace" the original, but it would be fascinating.

"Skipping" those three albums, even if just for the first wave of releases, is like officially branding them as lesser works. Again, hopefully it's just not accurate as to what's really going on. Friends has been a well reviewed cult favorite and high on fans' lists for some time now, and Wild Honey is no slouch either!

The only stereo remixes are the albums that never had a true stereo mix to begin with. Even if they did reissue Friends in this line of remasters, I'm sure it would just contain the original 1968 stereo mix.
