"Little Red Book" really recorded in 1967?

Every time I listen to Brian's "Little Red Book" recording "God Only Knows/Mr. Sandman" from 1971 jumps to mind. The vocal nuances and Brian's singing style sound very similar. Probably complete nonsense, but how big is the chance that LRB comes from that 1971 tape?

I once thought it was from later, too, but every expert (and non-expert) I've asked has told me it's from 1967.

What is Little Red Book?
Is that the song Brian recorded for Marilyn?

It's a cover of the Burt Bacharach tune, written in 1965, covered by Brian solo at the piano, apparently from 1967.

Since Love came out with their hit version in '66...

...it's logical that Brian would think to try it out on piano soon after (as opposed to five years later).

I must have missed something along the way:
How was it determined that Brian's version of "My Little Red Book" was recorded in 1967? The multitrack master is on a "Friends" album project reel from 1968.

Two Brian recordings of Bacharach material from 1968. Awesome.
I've always wondered if there was a longer version of "Walk on By" from the Friends era?

Alan, I think "mLRB" showed up on some Smile-era bootlegs, which is why it was lumped in with 1967.

I remember Brian - as he said in a interview - thinking of recording something with just piano and voice for the B side of the next Beach Boys single, early 1967. People related this to the My Little Red Book run through that has leaked.
And a recording he made as a birthday gift to Marylin, when was it done? Did it ever happen?

Y'know, now that Alan mentions it, the piano sounds like Brian's Chickering. I would venture to say that the overdubbed bass is also Brian, or maybe Carl or Al.

Yes, Brian told reporter Tracy Thomas "I may end up just recording me and a piano – I tried it last night in the studio" regarding the B-side of H&V, printed February 18, 1967. That quote probably led to the widely published session date February 14, 1967 @ Goldstar.
Other sources say it was a Valentine's Day gift for Marilyn and Carole Kaye played bass (?!?)
Anyway, no more LRB on personal SMiLE mixes...
