Seriously, there are a number of songs on the stuff released so far that would vastly improve the 85 album, Still Cruisin, SIP, KTSA, MIU and LA (which is the least offensive of the whole bunch, thanks to Dennis' songs and Good Timin')

Now it says January 24, 2012.

I can wait until the cows come home for the CD.  Why?  Because I have it already.

 I am interested in "waves of love" since Carl is on it.

I wonder if Postcards is now being mined for possible Ocean Way material?  Maybe "Waves of Love" and "Don't Fight the Sea"?

I don't understand this, please forgive my ignorance. I saw this available for
sale on Al Jardines website a year ago? Heard samples of all the songs with
a tracklist, how is this possible. It's available with credits, track listings, personell
and now it's not out yet?

This makes no sense at all, could someone clarify this? I just saw Don't fight the sea
as a charity single not long ago as well.

The download version was released.

The CD version (with bonus tracks) hasn't been.

It was initially released as a download and legit CDR from Amazon, but Al promised a proper CD release this year, and I guess that's not happening until maybe after the reunion.

…which might be what he meant when he stated on Facebook recently that careers were being sacrificed in order that the re-union could go ahead. Does one unreleased CD constitute a career outside of the BBs?  Hoping someone can clarify?

Considering that it takes Al approximately 1,0 careers per finished solo album, yes.  :police:

I would be enthused about a folk album from Al- low key, not overproduced, and totally awesome. Like when he sings Sloop John B or California on Endless Harmony with just the piano and guitar.

"Don't Fight the Sea" would have been a great "new" BB song for a new BB album, and a great way to integrate Carl into a new album. But as it has already been released, I wouldn't want it to take up space on an album if the alternative is getting something we haven't heard. But I would doubt a new BB album would clock in at 80 minutes anyway, so I wouldn't mind if they stuck it on the new album I suppose. It would give a really good song a more wide audience.

I too wonder if Al is either mining stuff like "Waves of Love" for a BB album, or if he's at least putting the reissue of "Postcards" on hold for the BB reunion. Would the group be annoyed if he tried to capitalize on the group publicity by putting out his solo album? I dunno.

Why do I get the feeling that this won't come out until 2056?

Still says Feb 7th on my Amazon pre-order, but it says it won't be here till the 14th. I'm guessing Amazon has yet to update it then.

Not sure how many delays this expanded physical release has had to date, but I'm beginning to suspect that the Celebration tour has it beat and that we'll never see it.

I hear Al's still working on the 12" disco version of 'Take A Load Off Your Feet'.

Might be huge.

It is interesting to note that the album has been removed from Spotify though, don't know what this means, but maybe Al's trying to get a deal set up with someone or something to that effect?

I bought Postcard almost 9 months ago from Amazon...it was their CD-R thing, not a factory pressed disc. It's nothing revolutionary, but it is a nice enjoyable listen...the guest spots read as a who's who of American rock and roll old farts, plus Flea and some other Beach Boys.

Al's son Matt (inheritor of the most authentic Beach Boys falsetto there is) occasionally posts here - I wonder if he might be able to shed any light?

Seriously doubting whether this will ever arrive!

Is that the same one that plays for a few seconds on Endless Harmony? I've always wanted to hear that, any idea where I can find it?

Part of me wonders if the delay occurred so it wouldn't clash with the release of the new Beach Boys album. Just a thought.

I was wondering if the release date for Postcard would change after "Waves of Love" got moved to the new Beach Boys album.... I'm thinking WOL will no longer be a bonus track on Postcard and that would necessitate production changes in both CD and packaging, resulting in another delay.

I'd put "Don't Fight the Sea" on the BB reunion album, since very few people have heard it. Al can't get his album together, so rather than let it collect dust for another 50 years (Al plans to live to a very, very ripe old age  :lol), just get it out there.

Considering long how he kept tweaking Loop de Loop  :lol

I doubt the same version would be used. Take some of those vocal tracks and put them to a new backin track so it fits with the feel of the rest of the new material.

That said, I keep wondering if we'll get the Grammys live version of G. Vibes as well as the DIA remake, to take up any slack…?

I hope the live Good Vibrations isn't on there, it's like one minute's worth of the song.

...and very awkwardly-performed with that.  It has no business being included on the album.

I'm not really complaining by the way – I've really enjoyed Postcards in its existing formats, the excitement of TSS and the reunion tour/album news – but some kind of explanation for the continual delays ought to be forthcoming by now.  You know, fans support favourite artists by ordering product, favourite artists frustrate fans by not providing said product.  Just a courtesy…  please?

I guess the continued delays are due to a) the new Beach Boys album coming out and b)one of the bonus tracks (Waves Of Love) being appropriated for the new Beach Boys album. Al should just delay the whole thing until August/September when the tour is over and his public profile should be higher by thi spoint which may give him more sales rather than it being released in the shadow of the new Beach Boys album.

Looks like we'll be getting a sneak peek at "Waves of Love".

The idea of "Waves of Love" of now confuses me.

"California Dreaming" should be interesting.

Anyone else strangely intrigued by this new "Sloop John B"?

Same song won't be on two different releases...

Eager to hear California Dreamin' with Crosby but if this Sloop John B is based on the one from Al's kids book then I can live without it!  :lol

I'm not entirely familiar with A Pirate's Tale, but curiousity is second only to anticipation in terms of motivating me to buy an album, and I'm definitely curious :-D

Glad this sucker's finally coming out officially on a physical format (the dinky CD-R Amazon was pimpin' don't cut it).  Was always interested in hearing the new version of "California Dreamin'" with David Crosby; even if this is like the umpteenth recording of the song that Jardine has been involved with. 

So, will there be a version of "Waves of Love" on Al's album and then another on the new BB album -- or will there be one version appearing on both albums?

And, yes, I'm ready to have a true CD version of Postcard. Right now, I'm playing it on a CDR burned from iTunes.

Relieved that this album seems to be shipping in the US now…

… but here in the UK it's now subject to another week's delay (according to amazon uk), and the price (Amazon UK) has soared from £8.12 to £22.80.

Ho hum…

Thankfully I ordered mine at the low price (on Sept 1, 2011), but I can't see that new price helping it to soar up the charts! :-\

Nope, and a couple of months ago it was taken down.

Got home form work today and found Postcard From California in the mail. Nice addition to my collection, no masterpiece by far, but pleasant.

Random observation: The CD now adds a credit for Probyn Gregory playing french horn on "Looking Down the Coast." The mix on the new CD didn't sound different, so I'm wondering if maybe they just accidentally left his name off of the 2010 version of the album. I wonder if he added the horn at the same June, 2007 session that Brian attended with Al just prior to Brian and Al doing their live show together in Saratoga, CA.

Someone tell me please - since Amazon isn't being helpful - the new release in the UK does have the extra tracks on, doesn't it? Or do I have to download them?

From what I've heard only three copies of that have been found so far. They're equivalent to a Willy Wonka golden ticket and entitle you to a personal BBs concert in your living room.

Can't wait to find one then, I am excited about story time with Mike Love and the rarities concert in my house.

The final Chapter.

PFC landed on the doormat yesterday and I spent half the day wandering round the Dales with headphones on.

Still very impressed with this album, and some of the tracks I didn't take to quite so much on its original digital release sound much more lovable suddenly.

Gotta say, the download version of Wave of Love, with Carl's rough vocal, is a much more finished, better-realised song than the CD version.

California Dreaming is the perfect companion to Al's acoustic California Saga (released on the ESQ disc One In A Million) and is eons ahead of the recent Wilson/Fillets version.

Even the kiddies' version of Soop John B sounds good (but maybe that's cos of what's gone under the bridge since A Pirate's Tale came out, nappies & all!).

So it's here, I'm delighted, and I'll shut the F*c$ up now!

You are spot on here John, they go together beautifully and I may never have heard the acoustic California Saga if it weren't for a certain Wee helper  :)
