That explains. Rmbr I said in the "Bubs" & Judd thread that I find the expletives boring? Ditto with drugs. I HATE DRUG REFS. If you all find it funny - cool. To me, it's boring. & I like my interpretation, thanks.

& btw, fyi, the date in Russia goes day/month not vice versa. Same as the UK date. The US stuff reads very bizarre, beyond basic understanding. I don't get it & will not get used to it, jus' like I find 2 dashes-4 dashes (-- or ----) extremely weird & stupid-looking & Oxford comma. JMHO.
3877  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: rollinbluntzj420: hilarious screename on: June 09, 2016, 08:26:13 PM
I saw that and got a good laugh out of it.  Grin
Did you, though? I'll be honest & say I didn't find it funny. Name like name. some guy/girl? was rollin' & fell blunt on their backside + digits. See? Not funny the least bit.
3878  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: So what did we all do today? on: June 09, 2016, 01:07:32 PM
As RR suspected, my better half grew them. My son has a modest organic allotment but no time to tend it so my wife looks after it. She often brings a few vegetables home.
Runs in the family? 3D May I ask - is your fam vegetarian?

Almost forgot: strawberries are very popular in the Netherlands and they're in season right now...
Cool. It's very expensive to buy it where I live. In season here is blueberry & cowberry (redberry?) & in swamp places - cloudberry.
3879  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: So what did we all do today? on: June 09, 2016, 12:35:01 PM
Eating a big bowl of home-grown strawberries and sour cream as I type this.
Splendid! 3D Did your better half grow it? You should be proud. Is strawberry in general popular culture in Netherlands?

Wow. That's amazing. No end to what this thread is good for.

It also serves as a reminder to us to think before posting, as even the deleted stuff can come back to haunt us.

As for mentioning the newly created board: [...] But what I'll do is describe it as I described the Capitol Board after I'd left, as being "across the road". Vague for those who prefer it that way, quite clear for everyone else.
Respectively:
Maybe "wow" for some but I'm sure Billy just said it, he won't re-post it.

Ditto deleted stuff, I don't think he said he will re-post every deleted post in its place to "haunt" us. At least in my case, I didn't delete posts which were bad/offensive, I did it to minimize the post count.

Thank you, john, I knew we can work it out. Yes, describe it as "across the road". How about editing your post in the "What you listen" thread I replied to?
3881  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: June 08, 2016, 06:43:03 PM
undercover-m, did you listen to Canadian band Hot Hot Heat? I recommend them.
3882  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: June 08, 2016, 06:25:38 PM
I'll explain - I am conservative, I like consistency and I'm used to this board for 5 years. It's strange to visit Smiley Smile and read suddenly about "new forum". I think enough is enough. Once-twice but everytime to see these references is quite bizarre.
3883  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The return of the "What are you listening to now?" thread on: June 08, 2016, 05:47:45 PM
Is it necessary to mention that forum, john? You could just say the name of band and link. This is Smiley board. If you like reading the other board - cool, just don't mention it. It's odd to visit Smiley and read about other board.
3884  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Is music your day job? on: June 08, 2016, 06:02:10 AM
"people cook breakfast in the morning/they stand red-faced in the heat of the kitchen/Kid steals slice of pancake behind backs/Alas it was the only in the plate". See? Where is rhyme?

I like it. Maybe Ovi can make a rap song out of it: "The Only In The Plate".
I just made it casually, aka childhood experience - used to steal the food while the granny cooks. Couldn't wait when she finishes, was hungry.
3885  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Is music your day job? on: June 08, 2016, 05:59:36 AM
I.e. the picture with you posing to "play" keyboards dates 80s-90s? Hm, looks recent-ish.
Referring to Smiley picture topic.

At this point, the best thing to do is move along.
3887  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Is music your day job? on: June 08, 2016, 05:16:49 AM
It's a hobby. It's good as additional money but here's biggest trouble - I don't write music, not very good at it, the inspiration doesn't strike and it's simply very difficult. If I worked in a music sphere, it would be songs with just melody. I choose the easiest path - music as opposed to music AND lyrics. Plus tbh, I couldn't tackle it. Somebody must be a bookworm, have rich vocabulary, be articulate. If I dared to ignore it and still write the lyrics, they would be banal like this: "people cook breakfast in the morning/they stand red-faced in the heat of the kitchen/Kid steals slice of pancake behind backs/Alas it was the only in the plate". See? Where is rhyme?

So far heard only Disc One - and it's turning out to be my favourite jazz album.
Big fan of Louis Armstrong. Am going to check the local site if it has this for free. Thanks for posting.

Sweet, that collection is there.

2 john k: I said it before - it's cool that you try to stay up-to-date unlike other old-timers. You don't have to but still you do it. To me, it takes titanic patience and effort to listen to every single music suggestion, give chance to *every* genre that is NOT my cup of tea. Some of you have inquiring minds - I don't, I don't have goal to chase modern music, only selectively and if I feel like it. I'm just not interested and don't see what I will gain from that.
Anyway, it's totally OK to not like any of the music suggested here, by undercover-m or whoever else. They aren't writers of it, they won't be hurt. I'm sure she won't cry in the pillow "john didn't like music I love!!! What am I gonna do?!" Funny, isn't it? To be "terribly sorry" when dealing with taste is a stretch.

It could be smb. worse than Adele. At least she got voice.
3892  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: The Middle 8 Thread on: June 07, 2016, 05:46:04 AM
Local moscovites Beary Qoot Band have a song "Disneyland rider" - the middle 8 is snippets of radio jingles.
The Unrelated Segments, 60s garage band - Where you gonna go
The Who - Pictures of Lily ("Lily, oh Lily..." + cool guitar solo)
Poco - Hurry up

2ThreeCats: good point. I went with "1st song to feature the BBs to last". Yes, IIT is fun.

2phirnis: you like Pacific coast better even than From There To Back Again?
3894  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Pet Sounds Forum on: June 05, 2016, 07:45:57 PM
I wasn't talking about only AGD.  The issue here isn't even about his ban.  I don't have issue with it and neither do the vast majority of people here.
I mentioned the ban after seeing "your personal crusade against Andrew". Did I miss sth.? Where did you get this idea that it's "personal" if GF plenty of times repeated that the PM system itself, based on what they found out, is real troublemaker. And sorry but "people you don't like" seems like attempt to add fuel. If it's not, explain what you meant by that. Lots of the Pet Sounds posters do post here, as Smilin Ed H said 90%? Nobody shooed them away. It's voluntary. They can check in here and there.
3895  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Pet Sounds Forum on: June 05, 2016, 07:21:20 PM
GF didn't decide alone though to ban Mr. Doe. You gotta agree that no BBs historian or regular Joe, but esp. somebody whose work is to correct facts should be respected for doing nasty thing as slandering Brian's wife JUST because he doesn't like her. Brian's family is not his business. It's not about not liking "Andrew", not sure how you came to this conclusion.
3896  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: 4th Anniversary of That's Why God Made The Radio on: June 05, 2016, 06:32:31 PM
Keep being positive, The_Beach. To finish career with "Summer's gone"? They can do better than that. Imo if they started with fun ("Surfin") they should end with fun. It just seems cliched to end with sentimental song.
3897  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: The Observer: It’s Time to Destroy ‘the Legend of Brian Wilson’ on: June 05, 2016, 05:38:52 PM
Mr. Manning, what Disney Boy (1985) said is anything but "sensible" post. Nobody forced Mr. Lee to apologize, he had an option not to. DB's post is uber-emotional overreaction which didn't help any. What he doesn't understand is that people didn't merely complain about OregonRiverRider - his private information was passed and, as I read it, lies about some of it. It's not OK.

Let's not feel bad for his ban. Your post about moderators not doing their job should be in the Sandbox thread. Not sure why you raise it here.

john, I'm checking the 1st link - very interesting. youtube is very slow (and that's why I didn't yet listen to your Russian female composers). Talk later in the welcome thread.
