One of my favorite hallmarks of Beach Boys/Brian Wilson songs are beautiful tags that repeat at the end of a song with gorgeous harmonies.

I put together a list of my top 10 off the top of my head...what do you guys think? Prefer tags or no tags? Anything I'm missing here?

Tags are such a big part of pop----long live tags! 

- The "fuzz" tag to the 2fer version of "Can't Wait Too Long"
- "Funky Pretty"
- "Break Away"
- "Leaving This Town" has a wonderful tag of entirely new material
- The false ending of "I'm So Young"----wow!
- "Wind Chimes" (Smiley Smile version)

"Had to Phone Ya" and "I Bet He's Nice"

Yep, lots of great tags. As Carl said in an interview, the BBs loved tags.

Two more "dynamic" tags...

--Dennis' tag in his version of "River Song."
--The jam-packed, kick-ass instrumental/vocal array in the last 35 seconds of "Mess of Help to Stand Alone," turning the entire raison d'être for BBs tags upside down and inside out.

With headphones on, I can get lost in the tag of "Till I Die."

I've always loved that. Mike & Brian really nailed that part. It's my favorite part of the song.


Also, the coda of the Smiley Smile version of Wind Chimes is heavenly.

Good call on when I grow up. Also can't believe I forgot surf's up that's definitely top 5!!

Plus the low voice singing "Oh no" as Its Kinda sad is sung. Love listening to this acapella!

"Only one World."  Tend to get a bit teary on that one.

Tell Me Why has a great tag.

Glad Tree has been mentioned .

Fans usually name "You still believe in me" & "At my window". I never found their tags to be that great. The songs are but not the tags. "Airplane" is same way. until "I can't wait" it is jolly good.

The best tag might be Al kicking in in "Surf's up". Great ending to great song imo.

The Like in I Love You.
