My girlfriend has been bothering me for a photo of BW in the Radiant Radish. Can't seem to find one in my stash. Any help would make the home life that much simpler. Also, are there Any photos of the outside of the Radish? Thanks in advance.

I thought there was a picture of Brian in the Radish in his "autobiography."

I'm pretty sure there is, and I know I've seen one somewhere else. The Gaines' book possibly? He's wearing his robe and appears to be stocking a shelf with bottles of vitamins. I'll have to check when I get off work.

The robe photo was first published in the fall 1971 Rolling Stone articles by Tom Nolan - only photo of the Radish, inside or out, I've ever seen.

Thanks. I remember it from the gaines book, but my paperback has lost both sections of photos! I don't suppose anyone might post it? My girlfriend has been bothering me for a photo of BW in the Radiant Radish.
Marry her. Lets not get crazy here...

It's not crazy to propose to her. Girls like that are 1 in 5 million. Literally. I don't care if she's schizophrenic, bipolar, or anything else - you marry her.

Rolling Stone writer Tom Nolan went to the Radish and tried to buy some vitamin B-12. He didn't have a "call" from his doctor to the store, so Brian wouldn't sell it to him.
Not a business model destined for success.

Thanks for the link! Bri looks way bigger than I thought he was during this period. this is how I imagine him in '74/'75.

Indeed, thanks for that!
Its ironic that Brian looks as big as he does in this picture, while standing in the middle of his health food store.

While the pic makes him look kind of big-he actually was fairly thin that year-take a look at the picture taken by Annie Liebowitz for the cover of that 71 Rolling Stone...he looks about the same as in 1970, though with longer hair

Yeah, that picture is deceiving, Brian really was about as fit as he'd been since he was a teenager at about that time.
But there's no denying it, Brian is just a big guy, even when in good health. He exudes a certain magnitude in person.

But when Brian was a teenager, he was really skinny, wasn't he? Like, bony, even.
Around 1963 was his optimum, I'd say. He filled out, but he wasn't too heavy. In 1970 or so he lost weight, but I think he still sort of had the double chin. Kind of like 1966, no?
It looks like there are pet products on that shelf, in the lower right corner. I didn't know they had pet-health-care products even back then.

I always thought those photos of Bri looking thin around '70 were rather phony looking. Even Carl looks skinny in them. But when they are playing baseball around that same time BW has his mighty gut. Shadows, airbrush, or just rapid weight changing?

Does anyone have pix of this? I think that pic is in Peter Ames Carlin's book.

Brian from 64 to 72 could look fit or flabby pretty rapidly but he was never huge. It's kind of like he's been since 96 or 97. Sometimes he has a gut and somtimes doesn't. He was pretty skinny in 1970 around the time of the Whiskey shows.

Speaking about photos: I have two particular favorites. It is the austere B&W photo, Brain is looking straight into the lens, clad in black, and Guy Webster took it. Then: and this is a question: I did possess the Rolling Stone Special Photo Edition (I think it was their 25 bday celebration. It has the most haunting photo of Brian I ever saw. Stunning stuff. I lost the mag.) Where can I find that pic?
And a special treat: Vox magazine (UK) did an interview with Brian in 1995 or so, and it ran the most quirky series of Brian I saw, in yellow/sepia I think. As if it was done with laughing mirrors.
I will do some searching myself now.
