Hey all
Here's another new Ghost Pal track I think we can easily trace back to a Beach Boys influence..in this case the whole "Wild Honey" LP was real formative
Also we got didgeridoo, harmonium, cello and a new instrument my friend invented called the "Skello". It's insane
Here's the music: http://ghostpal.bandcamp.com/track/retribution

I hope you enjoy it and thanks for listening!

That was one of my favorite listens of posters' tunes in quite a while. Really nice. The leaps in the lead vocal were a great idea. And I like that while, as you say, a person can hear Beach Boys influence, it isn't "hey, here's my attempt at a Beach Boys song," which sort-of tires me out, to be honest. Again, really nice song! Care to talk a bit more about the skello...?

Thanks a lot Luther! I really appreciate that. Yeah pastiche can get tired really quickly, it's cute to play spot the influence but if they aren't there in service of an urgent idea, then you're just looking at prettily cloaked air

The skello is basically patterned off a cello (although the tuning is significantly different), constructed out of steel, with a long tall neck and a creepy skeletal rib cage that acts as the back of the instrument. It's very quiet unamplified but is outfitted with a contact mic apparatus and plugged into an amp (in this case). It's Caleb's first instrument, and is not that useful as a melodic voice, but man you can achieve some creepy drones on it!
actually, here's a picture of Caleb with the cello:
