If I am honest, I havn't bought the last album WITH Brian!
Seems to me with this group, and it has a lot of members, they must have some song writing ability amongst them surely.
I've heard bits of Taylors solo album and while it had some Brian Wilson content, nobody would call it his work in any way. Just a helping hand and a bit of encouragement. Maybe he could do something similar for the whole group.
Of course as they were titled with the Wondermints tag for years, the Brain Wilson Band would be a harder name to shake.

As much as I would hate to sound critical about Brians band, as I think they are great, are the GH's tours just a job creation scheme for them?
Brian doesn't need the tours or should IMO so is he being used to keep them in a job? If so it is a shame. For a band once described as 'the best in the business' by Paul McCartney to be unable to make a living without Brians name is a indication how tough the job can be I guess.
I wonder how good a group album minus Brian, other than as a guest co-writer for a few tracks, could be?

Great thread!
The question was asked earlier about what role Brian could play onstage at any reunion. I have no problem hearing him sing Carls leads. In fact it would be easier on his voice than a full BW set list as he tires near the end of his solo shows IMO.

No bashing intended AGD. From memory the poster was mainly critical of the quality of venue Mike and Bruce were playing then (3-5 years ago).
FYI I gave dates and venue from my old BBFUN news letters of casino appearances dating around 1981.
For what its worth, for a band that once sang at a presidential inauguration to now accept bookings for private gigs in run down neighbourhood parking lots at the same time as the lead singer is talking of playing the Hollywood Bowl and Wembley in the future...I'm astounded!

All class. http://www.adn.com/anchorage/story/919310.html(In part) The Beach Boys put on a free outdoor concert in a Mountain View parking lot Monday night, drawing at least 700 people to an event that most attendees heard about only by word of mouth. Surf rock began pumping out onto Mountain View Drive about 8 p.m., drawing in passers-by who crowded along a perimeter fence at Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge for a view of the famed band. Impromptu gatherings behind rundown buildings gave way to dancing as the band played its 1960s hits like "I Get Around," "California Girls" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice."....

Yeah, some sort of live release would be nice too. Any of the previously mentioned shows would be fine but if they weren`t to release a full concert, a double CD of songs from right through the band`s career including some of the rarer heard stuff might be interesting. How about "The Beach Boys Presents SMiLE"? Or even "The Beach Boys Presents Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE"? You know I have wondered about this for the last 4 years. Any chance that to get a BWPS deal Brian had to sign away any chance of a official Beach Boys SMiLE album or boxset in the future?
