Hi,

Heard a new/recently recorded version on radio today with Al and Mike on lead and what sounded like Brian on the bvs/chorus . Lyrics are different to the 70s version. The DJ announced it as by the Beach Boys, so is it related to the reunion?

Didn't Van Dyke say in a previous interview (something along the lines of) that drugs had no bearing on why Smile being shelved. Brian sounds pretty focused and confident in the studio and the amount of hours of work put in wouldn't have been possible if he was stoned or jacked up. Also in a work environment with all those people around would he want to look wasted in front of them?

I love the music, but not sure if i buy this that it would signal the end of this great mystery.
I'm grateful it's come out an all, but the official release confirms we don't have a track to part 2 to Surf's Up , swathes of vocal parts aren't there etc.
Prefer to think of 'what if' rather than 'what is'; however it's easy to say that now considering i can purchase it legally and hear it in the highest fidelity.
Maybe if it was still a pipedream i'd be chomping at the bit for even 1 disc worth of Smile material. No pleasin' some people! If i do change my mind i want the pleasure of picking it up in a record store and carrying it home myself. Hope those who mail ordered found their boxes in pristine condition; when i ordered the Mojo Smile special mag (from the publisher) it looked like someone had used it as a doormat before i recieved it. 5  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / BW New Songs on: October 20, 2011, 04:34:55 AM
Just heard an interview snippet on BBC Radio 1.
Brian is currently working on new material with Jeff Foskett; the clutch of new songs aren't for the BB reunion (Bri didn't say how many songs just there would be 'some good harmonies'). One new song title he mentioned was 'Shelter'.
As we know his stance may change in any subsequent interviews! And if not, does that mean he will have a separate batch of songs planned for the reunion, penned with the Lovester?- if it happens at all.

Andy.

Hi everyone, it's my first post here ,although I've been visiting this board regularly for 5 years and have been a BB fan for 20 years. How lucky we've been to receive such a variety of recent and forthcoming releases of BB and Brian material. I'm going to see Brian on Friday woo-hoo, rear stalls (KK-50 your welcome to say hi if you pass by!), don't care if the view's not great; at least i can say i was in the same room as him.
It's my 4th time I've been able to see Brian live; I've always left feeling grateful and amazed to listen to him perform-but have also felt damn, wish I'd have been able to say thanks to him personally for the wonderful and unique music he has given us; even in some hard times.
Have any of you been lucky enough to meet Brian for a few minutes after any of his concerts?
I'd love to as he's my only musical hero, but guess lots of us would and he probably wants to chill! Let's raise the roof for him each night at the RFH Smokin

Cheers

Andy
