I went into the local Walmart in Wildwood, NJ. It was with the "New Releases" section, surprisingly enough. I didn't even have to ask one of the employees where it was. Also grabbed the ZinePak as well. Both are great. :)

I just got back from my lunchtime trek to Target (Allentown, PA) to pick it up.

They had about half a dozen copies in the "New Releases" rack right in front of the CD section. $7.99. I'm planning to crack it open and enjoy it during my ride home later today, when I'll have time to hear it all... I've avoided all clips, streams and downloads, so everything but the single will be entirely new to me. Looking forward to it!

Waiting for my copy in the post from Amazon, if I had remembered I would have brought it from the shops but I stupidly forgot about today and yesterday being bank holidays in the UK. :-[

Bought mine at Target. Sign said $5 dollars, looked at the receipt later and saw they charged me $7.99 for it.

I didn't feel too bad considering that I'd've paid over $15 to get this album.

Listened to it once all the way through: LOVE Daybreak over the Ocean, PCH, Isn't It Time, and The PLoBaS.

Overall a VERY solid album, with a few more listens hopefully some of the clunkers will start to grow on me!

Do you really think these were whipped up in a few months, or was Brian sitting on some of these for 30 years?
Some of these are better than they have any right to be.
From There to Back Again is a real surprise - I think there's maybe one duff song on the whole disk (more listens will tell) - a better average than some of the 60's stuff!

I'm going to buy mine from Target on the way home.  I hope Target is sold out, then I'll walk next door to Best Buy and buy it.  I hope they're sold out too. 

Picked my copy up at Target this morning.  ;D

Target!  This morning, they had just opened.  I found it in the new releases section, pretty sure I was one of the first there lol.  Got my copy, went to my car, opened it, saw a weird staining on the back of the album case.  I sat there for 5 minutes letting my OCD-tendencies build before I went and exchanged it for an ok copy.  THIS WAS GONNA BE A PERFECT MOMENT AND NO LIL DISCOLORATION WAS GONNA RUIN IIIT

Just got back from Target.  Yep, we're all cheapskates.  Couldn't stop smiling.  I'm so grateful for this music and I'm happy for the Beach Boys.   Noticed Bob Ludwig did the mastering and it shows.  Very crisp and lots of dynamics.  Loving it!  On Spring Vacation, sounds like they did the Beach Boys special trick with Mike's vocal ala "I Get Around".  Awesome.  

Bob mastered Imagination, too. Didn't help the dynamics on that one, I'm afraid.

Quite honestly, the new record doesn't have many dynamics at all. It's not brickwalled but it could sound a lot better.
Although, it sounds miles better than TLOS....

Got mine yesterday, walked into my local HMV and surprisingly it was prominently featured in the new releases section.

I'm listening to an illegal download - but my legal copy should be here by Thursday!

I was at Target before they opened! Wow I love it! I think it's their best going way back... 70's at least. The middle does drag like people have stated but I still like it. It does remind me of Today - fast songs on Side 1 and slows songs on Side 2. Love the life suite - amazing. And I could have used more Al vocals actually...

That sounds like a plan! Although driving around Wildwood looking at all the retro-kitsch motels and architecture from the 50's while blasting this album in the car (windows down) sounds like a pretty prime location, too.

For the Philly folks: Since they were playing the new single on the air weeks ago, I was guessing WXPN might do something with the album release, but this happens to be their fundraising pledge week and I can't listen to the phones ringing and smatterings of applause as money rolls in for more than a few minutes to find out... ;D  I'd imagine they'd feature it somehow, though.

My local indy store has no problem selling cds before the release date. I got mine on Saturday!!

I just got back from Target in Jersey City, NJ. At first I didn't see it on any of the endcaps, so I checked the "pop" section, which I guess is supposed to be in alphabetical order but really isn't. After scanning the whole thing I was about to give up but finally realized there was one endcap I hadn't checked. That ended up being "New Releases." There it was, though hard to notice. I paid $7.99 for it. I've heard a few of the tracks on YouTube but am about to start playing the CD.

There was a sticker on it that said "Includes the hit single 'That's Why God Made the Radio.'" Is it a hit?

I find that sticker hilarious. Like, you need to know "That's Why God Made The Radio" is on an album called That's Why God Made The Radio.

Walked into the FYE at Paramus Park in NJ and there it was on the new releases rack for $9.99 since I had a credit for $3 I figured today would be the day to use it. Kinda wish I hadn't heard the entire album beforehand as it does ruin the thrill of popping that sucker in the car stereo for the very first time. Oh well......

I ordered mine from Amazon.  Thing said it shipped and was delivered, but I still don't have it yet.  :-(

Got mine at Best Buy for $9.99; Pretty cooL that there were a couple of others playing theirs on their car CD players as I exited the store. Really enjoy the CD; Nice melodies, great harmonies, Al really sounds great in his spots, as does Bruce. Overall, a solid CD.

Got mine at Target in Burbank...and used my pharmacy 5% off card for even further savings! Whoo-hoo!

I am however travelling very far to see their live show in Oslo on July 29th. The trip is very long and expensive so does this make it up (because I am after all seeing them live) or should I fling myself off this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preikestolen for the summer (it's just 1 hour away from me). I am an impoverished student T_T

downloaded the leak last week, but happily deleted those files today. nothing like having the real deal in your hands and on your CD player. and doing your part to get Brian and the Boys back up the charts!!!

I went to Walmart at 1AM after work last night and they still had all of the June 5th releases in their shipping boxes. I asked if I could get a copy of the new BB album and they pulled one out of a box for me. After the guy handed me the album, he looked back into the box. "What's this?" he mumbled as he picked up the new Beatles release. I said thank you and walked away quickly as he examined it.

Downloaded the leak first, because I'm unbelievably impatient.  >:D

Went to K-Mart to pick up the new Alan Jackson CD for my mom's Father's Day present to my dad. Saw The Beach Boys' album there, but figured I'd just get it at Wal-Mart with the rest of what I needed. Incredibly Wal-Mart had none! Either in the regular section or the new releases. I didn't see The Beatles' CD, but they did have Paul and Linda McCartney's Ram reissue displayed in the new releases.

So, back to K-Mart it was. Oddly enough, both mine and my mom's CD rang up cheaper than the price tag. Must be some kind of release day "discount" or something K-Mart runs. At any rate, it was a nice surprise.

It's possible they were sold out! 

I paid $2.99 for my copy at Target after using the $5.00 gift card they gave me for buying some Dr. Scholl's insoles. :-D  Wow! A new Beach Boys CD AND comfy feet. I'm having quite a day.

Just picked it up at Best Buy about an hour ago for $9.99. 

Already gave it one spin, overall I'm impressed, especially those last 3 tracks...damn.

Got it on Itunes and at Target...I know overload but, had an Itunes gift money to burn! :hat

I only spent $14.99 on mine. I think its better then SMiLE and Pet Sounds but not as good as Summer in Paradise.   :brian

Kind of pissed I have to wait for the vinyl but the CD will do me OK for now and at least I have a copy for the car.

QVC seemed to suggest here and there that the cd would ship early, so I ordered it from them (along with their bonus CD) even though I had already pre-ordered it on Amazon.  And yes in the meantime I downloaded the leak because I'm impatient.  Then early today the 24bit version became available on HDtracks so I purchased that, which sounds great and will be my go-to listening version.  The Amazon pre-order arrived at the house later this afternoon.  It's still in the wrapping and I'm thinking of passing it along as a gift.  That QVC version?  Hasn't even shipped yet last I checked.  I may keep it due to the bonus disc as a collectable I haven't decided yet.

This is the first time a major purchase such as this has been available on the day of release as a 24bit download (at least, a major purchase I've been interested in).  The post CD era may have arrived.

Popped into my local HMV today and used a gift voucher had left over from my birthday to get the CD, was showing number ten in the chart (Don't know if was the shop's or a local chart, shows number 30 on HMV website), they had a fair few copy's in, it was a bit different when the Smile Sessions CD came out, they had none in.
 
CD will have to keep me going until the vinyl bundle comes my way.

USPS tracking says my copy is out for home delivery today -- hooray!

(gasping for air) It finally arrived this morning ONE DAY AFTER the tracking note said it was delivered.

No worries, tho'.  It came with the new Neil CD!  Life is good!  And Amazon reduced the price to $7.99.

Just have to comment on the wonderful, wonderful picture of The Beach Boys on the back of the CD!!!!  Now that's nice!

Well this is annoying.  Still don't have the damn thing.  Complained to Amazon.com that I ordered this with two-day shipping and it never showed up.  They are refunding me on the shipping costs and sending me another copy which is expected to arrive tomorrow.  This has been a bummer.

That is why I never order in the mail. I was tempted to with SMiLE, but decided it would be safer to go to the store on the release date.

Personally I still don't see why anybody orders online.  Even if you live in the sticks and have an I.Q. of 146, you should have a Wal Mart near you, that with all it's B.S. and hicks you don't like, does a better job getting you the new Beach Boys CD than Amazon does. 

I've ended up buying it five times. I generally only buy Brian's stuff three times.  :P

1.) I ordered it on Amazon.
2.) I picked it up early at my local indie store
3.) I got one of Target's cheap copies
4.) I bought he $5 Amazon version, so I could have a copy in the cloud
5.) I bought the HD tracks version, because hi-res!

So, yeah. I figure I'll give a couple of them away.

I pre-ordered on Amazon and will not receive it until June 12th.  Patience.

That's fucking horrible, and unacceptable if you live anywhere but Antartica.

I downloaded it illegally whilst waiting for my CD that comes with the tickets I bought for the Wembley concert. That CD has now arrived :)

Will be buying the vinyl if it actually becomes available in the UK, or might just use my transatlantic links to secure a US copy.

I ordered it ten days ago from Amazon.de. Still waiting. (but I downloaded an illegal flac of it to tide me over.

You're going to have to be patient for quite a long time my friend, a few months it looks like.
