Sorry about making a topic just for this, but I had to say it. There is a song called "Don't You Evah" by Spoon playing a lot on contemporary radio and the main guitar riff sounds EXACTLY like the vocal melody for the chorus of "Night Time". It's uncanny. Who knows if it was deliberate.

Anyway, I listened to the song on Rhapsody...while it doesn't sound EXACTLY like the chorus in Nighttime, it is pretty close, and I probably would have been reminded of it even if no one had told me what to listen for...good find!

I guess the point of it all is that Brian has always been coming up with good, commercial melodies,  he just doesn't know how or doesn't care to produce his songs (or write lyrics) in a way the mass public will be able to get into. That Lucky Old Sun was a step in the right direction, though, so I guess we'll see what happens next.
