How did you pick your "guest stars" on this album?

Hi Brian --

You're working with a bunch of interesting people on "No Pier Pressure" -- how did you choose them, and pick which songs you put them on?  Was it more a case of thinking "I really like this Nate Reuss guy, this song I'm halfway through needs something extra -- let's give him a call", or "Melinda suggested Zooey Deschanel, she's in town this week, let's see what we come up with together"?  Or something else?
