|
on: October 02, 2012, 06:19:28 PM

Two weeks ago I met up with Fred Vail at the California Museum in Sacramento, CA at the Hall Of Fame Beach Boys exhibit. Fred was in town for business and had not seen the exhibit. Fred and I loaned items for the exhibit, as well as, Brother Records, and Alan Boyd. If you're interested in seeing photos, go tp Fred's or my Facebook. The exhibit is closing Oct 31, 2012 and is located at 1020 O Street in Sacramento. Open daily except Monday.

PT PDX.
Please provide us with the link on the article you mentioned.. I bet a lot of us would love to read the article... Well known fan and good friend Bob Hanes from Eugene died 2 years ago . Darian and Bob were close friends., so I'm thinking Darian dedicated Darlin' to him. I wonder who was the guy sitting in front of you???

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Choral /Band Room - Hawthorne High School being torn down
|
on: June 26, 2012, 09:17:59 PM
|
I met another Beach Boys fan last week who graduated from Hawthorne High School( class of 1980). She told me the Choral/Band room is/ will be demolished and then rebuilt. Of course, this is the room where one Brian Wilson once studied music and sang. Oddly, there is no mention of Brian, Dennis and Carl attending Hawthorne High anywhere on the school grounds. She was upset The Beach Boys is not represented by some acknowledgment.
Be True To Your School.
Kinda sad!!!

Craig,
As long as you enjoyed the show. Thanks for the kids intro info. Was Billy H playing an instrument?
mini Pet Sounds" set in the second half in this order: "Sloop John B", "Wouldn't It be Nice" and then "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times".- It was done this way in Berkeley too. Also the tributes were back to back with Forever followed by God Only Knows.
You see any celebrities in the crowd??

Thanks for your report Craig.
Interesting that CA SAGA didn't do their own set but joined the Beach Boys. Did each of the kids get an introduction?
I wish they had done This Whole World in Berkeley.
The crowd at Berkeley was very upbeat and rocking with the BOYS, especially during the second half..

I''ve seen a lot of Beach Boys (something over 100 )concerts and this was simply amazing. Probably in my top 3 of all time dating back to the early 70's.
During the soundcheck, the band performed Ca Girls, Hawaii, Isn't It Time(twice), California Saga, Then I Kissed Her, Disney Girls, and FRIENDS. I estimate about 75 people had VIP and Meet and Greet passes.
The guys were spot on tonight and the band tore up the house!
I didn't get my Country Air but I did California Saga! Too many highlights to mention but ADD SOME MUSIC was beyond awesome. It was so cool to see the BOYS gathered with Brian at the piano and play one of my favorite tunes from my favorite album, Sunflower. They sounded fab!
Good night. I need to think about all that happened earlier tonight!
Kudos to the band!
Oh, Mike mentioned that the new album comes out on June 5 at least twice.
