This "all the managers" line. If these guys want this to happen then it has to be done like a business and that is one person in charge. Each member can have their wife or handler on the side but each faction having a so called manager with equal power is a disaster waiting to happen. I say call in a hardass anti-bs muso nazi from outside BB land. Any ideas?

From the Beach Boys Britain site...
Up On The Roof!!! Posted on June 14, 2006 at 02:14:11 AM by Bruce Johnston
I just returned to Las Vegas (we have a private concert here at the Wynn in three hours....97 degrees outside & clear!) from the Capitol Records press conference and I must say that it was great to see the band today. We all caught up with one another in one of the large offices before the 'event' and then we went up on the roof and received the awards. There were lots of TV and still cameras covering the presentation and then questions from the press. The 'reunion' issue came up and the band dialogue was pleasant, polite but also noncommittal. Al and I had a quiet discussion about a Beach Boys reunion tour and I pointed out to him that I thought the best approach would be to first book a 'controlled' venue and hope that a DVD, CD and TV special came out of a BB concert and in turn that might create some sort of mass interest in a possible US tour. I also reminded him that the Beach Boys music is available in concert live year after year unlike the Eagles being in musical moth balls and you would have to look at some sort of practical financial BB concert fee for the band. You don't want to burden a concert promoter with huge concert guarantees but loads of empty seats because the venue is too large. I'm not saying that just because we spoke a reunion tour will take place-I still feel that this was the last time we would all be in one place at the same time together. Sadly there are always many issues in the way. One more thing: We all made sure that Dave Marks stood with us in all the photos though some of the 'younger' Capitol Records employees did not know he was!

Hi Carrie Just wondering. Both you and Jon have indicated there will be a lot of new infomation about the group and I think Jon has said some of it could be quite shocking. For a already well known story to sell well it needs something new and extra. Do you see a falling out between David and any other members as a result of someone else (I'm thinking marketing people here) demanding a story that David himself is not comfortable telling? As we know certain group members have been known to call in the lawyers at the first sign of anothers version of the truth.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Mistake or Intentional ?

Stop me if the subject is covered elsewhere on the vast pages of this board but the "3 clicks" post earlier this week reminded me of another background noise on a Beach Boys song that has always intrigued me. The chatter during the intro to "Do It Again". I have at least 3 versions, all with it.
Any others? I'm sure I've heard a sneeze on one tune but can't remember which.

From the bbc and various others...
Collector counter-sues Beach Boys The Beach Boys took legal action against Roy Sciacca in January A collector accused of stealing Beach Boys records and memorabilia has taken legal action against the band. Roy Sciacca claims he purchased boxes of photos, music and other items at liquidation sales in the 1980s.
He is seeking $20m (£10.5m) damages or the right to sell the items, according to an action filed against the band's corporate entity, Brother Records Inc.
In January the band sued Mr Sciacca and Allan Gaba, claiming they stole the effects from a Los Angeles warehouse.
According to their complaint, Mr Gaba removed 13 to 25 boxes of memorabilia that the band had stored in his north Hollywood warehouse without their permission.
It claimed the men violated the group's copyright, trademark and "right of publicity" by trying to auction the goods in October.
'Unfortunate'
The sale, organised by UK-based auctioneers Cooper Owen, was cancelled 30 minutes before it had been due to start.
In his legal action, Mr Sciacca said the band had been wrong to stop the sale.
At their height, the Beach Boys' success rivalled that of the Beatles He claims the band's tour manager was present during the liquidation sales and had approved everything that was sold.
"I love the Beach Boys," he said on Thursday. "It disgusts me how far this has gone."
Ed McPherson, the Beach Boys' attorney, dismissed Mr Sciacca's counter-suit as a publicity stunt.
"It's unfortunate there are people out there that take advantage of situations like this," he said.
The Beach Boys had a string of hit singles and albums in the 1960s, rivalling the Beatles' commercial and critical success.
The band - whose hits include I Get Around, California Girls and God Only Knows - were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: A BEACH BOYS REUNION?! [Important News]

While I'm not interested in a Beach Boys reunion, I have thought about as a comparison why the Stones have remained so succesful as a touring act over the last 10yrs or so. They have 3 originals plus a replacement, the same as Al's "Pet Sounds" Beach Boys idea. The comparison stops with Carl and Bill Wyman. Bill never had the profile Carl gained by singing leads of course. But the success of the Stones, and I think more so since the hits stopped, must be put down to Jagger and any assistance he gets as managers. Had the Beatles still be going I find it hard to believe McCartney could pull off the same series of average albums followed by such high earning World tours.
So back to Al's concept. Good management may have been able to put something together. Of course not on the Stones scale. Think about it. The bad blood and mental breakdowns alone would be a publicists dream, not to mention deaths and court cases. Most of the news stories about Brian since 99 have highlighted them. But of course The Mike and Bruce show has rolled on during this period. Had they stopped in 97 then the public may have had some interest today. Look at "Cream" last year. But I now just can't see it working.

A few suggestions. I'll leave it to you to find addresses on the net.
Carls grave...Westwood. Paradise Cove...Just North of Malibu (free parking when eating, good food!) The whole Marina Del Rey/ Santa Monica area. Dennis had his boat and drowned at the Marina. Was known to have a few drinks at various bars!
and in San Fran. A few feet from the Grateful Dead house in Haight Asbury, Ambrose or Armbrose Records( or something like that!)
