This was uploaded by Brian's team via YouTube this morning, & it's 4:00 minutes long.  It's always an eye opener seeing Brian in a relaxed mood.  He wasn't aware that someone had signed his name as "Bryan Wilson" on some of the Pet Sounds session logs.

He also seems pretty nervous, but ah well.

Brian's relaxed in parts of this, and he's charming, a side you don't see enough.

Great vid.  He really does seem pretty together and happy here, if a little nervous. 

 

That was cool.  More interesting than the performance that aired.

It's on the Columbia 'Tape ID Data' 8-track sheets for "GOK" & "IJWMFTT".

Foskett asked Brian about the reading glasses that he was pictured wearing during the Pet Sounds sessions. Brian said he was just messing around.  So I take it he never wore them regularly after all.

Nothing wrong with Brian's memory there! He knew immediately what Foskett was asking about.

It must be fun being Jeff Foskett. He gets to ask Brian about a lot of unanswered questions/mysteries/trivia from the man himself. And I'll betcha Foskett gets more non-B.S. answers from Brian than interviewers do!

Would that be Daria Wilson. She's, what...14-15 now?

Probably the closest most of us will get to seeing the *real* Brian Wilson. Makes me wonder how many  of the "deer in the headlights" type appearances are put-ons.

Great look at Brian. It's good to see the rapport among the band members, though their sycophancy gets to be a bit much (hair looks good, you look great in all black, you look handsome, etc.). Still, I guess they're just trying to build Brian up, and he responds to it all well, so I think they're doing something right.  I can't identify any of the women in the vid, though I think one must just be the Tonight Show makeup artist (the one who gave Brian the lotion).

I wonder if Brian wrote his name with a "y" instead of an "i" as a jokey reference to The Byrds who were becoming popular around this time?

Something he probably wouldn't remember now.

Or could've been a typo written by someone who didn't really know Brian well.

Especially as he didn't write those sheets: not his handwriting.  :)

I don't believe that's Daria, Brian says her name towards the end of the video.  I think she's with one of the guys in the band.

Oh Gotcha.  I still don't think that's Daria.

Edit: After looking at the pictures.... actually.... I'm pretty sure that IS Daria.  Good eye.  It looks like she's became a beautiful young lady.

Yes.  ;D  In June 2003 he was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Music at Northeastern U. So yes, he is indeed Dr. Brian Wilson.
