Brian inductingthe Bee Gees into the HoF:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5ObWUNnjXA&feature=related

Brian shows up about 2:15 in the video.

He's nervous. You can tell by the paper.

Probably. But I've seen worse paper shaking by other people though. He did a pretty good job I'm sure you agree.

1979.

Thanks. This may sound stupid, but was Carl still doing drugs around that time? At the 6:38 mark his eyes look very shiny and that got me wondering.

Sure is. They sang back-ups on Chicago's Wishin' You Were Here and played Darlin' and Surfer Girl and perhaps another, judging by the photo below (either Wouldn't It Be Nice or Rhonda)

the band performed "Good Vibrations" & "Surfer Girl" alone, "Darlin'" with the Chicago horn section and Alan, Carl & Mike provided (lip-synced) bvs for Chicago's "Wishing You Were Here".

I posted that photo as it shows Carl playing a 12 string which didn't feature in the three songs they performed instrumentally. Al is upfront and seems to be singing lead. Carl and Al appear to be playing an A chord. Mike is on tambourine suggesting an uptempo number. In Concert features such a song which was transposed from its original key of C sharp to the key of A during this period: "Help Me Rhonda".

That could also be Surfer Girl, which has an A in it. Why Carl is away from the mic is anybody's guess, though.

It´s a song from Mike´s unreleased solo album "First Love"; the song´s also known as "Little Darlin´".

Sounds like a variation of "Sherry She Needs Me". Wonder if BW was involved.
Funny you bring this up, I was just listening to the Dumb Angel Rarities Collection (early 80s disc) last week and I thought the same thing about Tricia and Sherry She Needs Me...sure I'm not around on here as much but I still listen to my BB/BW stuff everyday.

I didn't check that. After all, all we know about is the four songs that were broadcasted. Well spotted.

SMiLE-Holland, I've been fascinated by this show for quite some time. It might be the closest we'll ever get to seeing an In Concert era performance.

There's an array of guitars onstage including Carl's aforementioned 12 string, a Gibson Firebird and what appears to be "Old Yeller." A banjo is also present leading me to believe that they may have performed more than the four songs broadcast; "California Saga/California" perhaps.

Love this video. And the 1st comment: "Brian still has one living brother. His name is Jeff Foskett."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VlB9LNlO4Y

Cool behind-the-scenes video full of little backstage scenes, anecdotes (I never get tired of Brian retelling one of his encounters with Elvis), brianisms ("I'm in the mood for vegetables!") and the man singing 60s oldies with Jeff (which they seem to do regularly, judging from similar footage over the years  Smiley). I especially like the snippet from "Why Don't They Let Us Fall In Love" - great pop song.

À prospos "Why Don't They Let Us Fall In Love" and YouTube - this is an awesome cover version by indie rock band The Morning Benders:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6wWLP07cSo

The Morning Benders rock. IMO Beach Boys fans should at least once have heard their two LPs and their covers record Bedroom Covers.

And he also sings a snippet of "The wonder of you". Although I don't know if he remembered the original or Elvis' version. The latter had the bigger hit with it I believe
