My quick pitch for what might just happen in the next year or so of BB:
New box set and reissues of all albums with some liner notes by members of Cal Saga.
A new Beach Boys album featuring Cal Saga on all of side 2 of the album, including one song that's just them.
A Cal Saga EP or single
Beach Boys Goodbye Tour with Cal Saga in the opening slot.
Cal Saga Album produced by The Beach Boys
Beach Boys retire. Cal Saga takes over touring duties.

Just gonna quickly echo what others said before, this was so much more special than what I think any of us were anticipating.
Highlights (aside from the performances and interviews themselves):
- Watching Marilyn nod along with Til I Die, which I would have imagined would be a hard song to listen to for her.
- Mike being the only member of the group to make the impressive effort to come to this celebration of Beach Boys rarities, and not only that, but he sits front row center, right next to what I'm sure was a completely blown away fan.
- Just being in a room full of people who have been touched by the music and people who made it in so many different ways.

#1 Stereo Remix of Smiley Smile/Wild Honey (maybe with a few new extras from the era thrown in like Little Red Book and some Heider cuts). #2 A BB rarities set of material from the Bellagio home studio with outtakes, alternates, demos (thinking some of the Love You demos) and sessions, plus liner notes detailing that era of their history complete with lots of photos and stuff (this seems to be one the less documented eras of the Beach Boys important periods) #3 A Dennis Rarities disc/double disc with all the release worthy cuts they have in the vaults #4 A less focused rarities set with odds and ends that wouldn't fit into the previous packages maybe have that be part of a larger career-spanning Good Vibrations: 50th Anniversary type package, including new stack-o-tracks/vocals and such.

I've got to think that any album that bore Prayer, Vibes, Heroes, Surf's Up, Cabinessence and Wonderful would have been a smash, even if it didn't sell to the Beach Boys traditional audience, and even if Worms, Fire, Veggies and others seemed too bizarre/esoteric.
Man, reading that list reminds me that, in a way, SMiLE is less than the sum of its parts. Like each of these songs requires the level of attention you'd give an album, and playing them all back to back robs them of their full effect. The way I feel about SMiLE is nothing compared to the cumulative feelings I have about Surf's Up, Cabinessence, Heroes & Villains, Good Vibrations, Windchimes, Prayer, Fire, I Love To Say Dada, Child is Father of The Man, Do You Like Worms, and Vegetables.

I've always been curious to hear someone make a mix combining a bunch of the material from the late 67 - 69 outtakes.
Old Man River Old Folks At Home/Ol' Man River Walk On By Can't Wait Too Long Lonely Days We're Together Again Out In The Country
I Went To Sleep would probably fit in too since 20/20 was a bit of an odds and ends comp anyway.
Maybe something like:
Lonely Days>Walk On By>I Went To Sleep>Old Folks At Home/Ol' Man River>Out In The Country>Can't Wait Too Long>We're Together Again>Old Man River

Sorry, should have quoted all the relevant posts in the topic for clarity: "Barbara Ann" > "Surfin' USA" ... Got it.
...and we wonder why it is always in the setlist; Beach Boys' and Brian's (solo). Can't argue too much with the remaining nine, though. Actually I don't think the list justifies Barbara Ann as much as it says that the setlist should include Surf's Up. I've always really liked Barbara Ann as a live staple of the band's shows but the Beach Boys studio version is so rough and half-assed with all the laughter and Ba-Ba Black Sheeps that I really don't understand the success it had as a single and it annoys me that it's always featured in compilations as that version rather than say the Live in London version which I like a lot. and Dear Beach Boys,
With the recent placing of "Surf's Up" and the #1 and #3 positions at both Mojo and Rolling Stone magazines poll of the greatest ever Beach Boys songs. I think it's about time to introduce the song into the set list. If you have to remove a song I suggest "Kokomo." That's right Mr. Love just let it go. For the sake of all that is right in the world please let it go. We get it, it was a number one hit and it was written without Brian. Good for you. You had your moment in the sun now it's time to move on. Beach Boys fans don't want to hear "Kokomo" Just replace it with "Surf's Up." It's all we ask
Signed
A Fan

Barbara Ann is the first Beach Boys song I remember. I was in kindergarten at the time and it was just so fun to sing. Yeah, it's not the jewel of their crown, but if it's charming enough for babies to love it, I can understand why its in there.
And so.... that's the reason for the song to be in the top 10 best beach boys songs ever recorded in their entire catalogue ? No.... that's why I don't think it should be cut from the tour setlist to make room for Surf's Up.

I totally agree that these recent placements of Surf's Up, combined with having SMiLE Sessions in stores to sell, combined with Al championing the song to the rest of the boys, might very well lead to a 50th Tour performance, But I disagree about what should be cut.

I also think a lot of casual fans love Kokomo, so I see no reason that they should nix that one, plus it would only serve to antagonize Mike which won't help in terms of getting Surf's Up on the setlist.
If I was trying to convince Mike to put it on the list, I'd probably make sure it didn't mean cutting any of his leads, any of the tributes, any of the new songs, or any of the "fun" songs". Realistically, it also has to be in the 2nd half which trims the possible cuts down to:
In My Room I Just Wasn't Made For These Times Heroes & Villains (Maybe, I think it counts as a fun song, but it might be a cuttable one for Mike)
In all honesty, it's not gonna be In My Room, cause it's too classic, so I think if we want Surf's Up in, we have to volunteer that we're okay cutting IJWMFTT (or maybe H&V). As painful of a choice as that is, I'm down.

The '98 Joe Thomas version doesn't circulate, does it?
Also, I was considering the Anne Wallace version as a nod to the importance of fan mixes in the SMiLE saga, with that version being routinely touted as the yardstick by which other mixes are measured.
Still looking for answers and leads on all the ones I mentioned.
