One thing that should be noted (because obsessed fans like me care about these things) is that when the Beach Boys perform at the Grammys it will be the first time this particular lineup has performed together. They "appeared" together at the 2006 Capitol Rooftop reunion, but obviously they did not perform. Just to be clear...Dave has played in lineups with Brian and Mike (with Dennis and Carl)...he's played with Mike and Al (with Dennis and Carl)...he's played with Mike, Carl, Dennis, Al and Bruce (without Brian)...he's played with Mike, Bruce, Al and Carl (without Brian)...and with Mike and Bruce (without Brian, Al, Dennis and Carl)...but he's never played with the combination of Brian, Mike, Al and Bruce...until the Grammys.

Awesome, David has finally come full circle with the BBs.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I touched on this 2-3 years ago when talk on the boards first turned to the 50th and some kind of reunion. The mix of these 5 voices for the first time should be interesting.

I also look forward to hearing the mix on the new album. Sure, the Beach Boys sound highlights falsetto but as it is a stretch for the guys now, I have no problem hearing a some work without it.

I also think it is great that Dave benefits, in what ever way, from the 50th.

Interesting times.

It's a great time for the band to be coming together again. Both Brian's outfit & the touring Mike & Bruce show performances have great musical chops that lay homage to the band's artistic peak; combining those elements with the integrity added by Dave & Al's presence makes for – potentially – some of the greatest BBs' gigs in their career.  We'll miss Dennis & Carl, for ever, but this combo could do something extra special.

I'm worried about Mike Love and whether his voice is up to it as the lead singer.  That's why I would like to see Al handle lead at least for this performance.

Didn't somebody post that Glen Campbell is going to be performing at the Grammys? It would be awesome if he were on stage with the Beach Boys as well...

He'll sound better than Brian will, most likely.

Shoot, might as well add Macca out there, as well, standing right next to Brian. The twins reunited.

Oh Brian
Thou Art In Hawthorne,
Harmonied Be Thy name
Your Kingdom Come,
Your Steak Well Done,
On Stage As It Is In Studio,
Give Us This Day, Our Shortenin' Bread
And Forgive Us Our Bootlegs,
As We Also Have Forgiven Our Wife And Managers,
And Lead Us Not Into Kokomo,
But Deliver Us From Mike Love.

I just wish Dave didn't have to perform in a lineup with Maroon 5...

I know! It'll probably kill him!  Dave prefers to play with musicians nobody's ever heard of at your local swap meet, or down at his local bar on Saturdays, but heaven forbid he stand on the same stage as a multi-time, multi-platinum grammy winner.  That's got to SUCKKKKKKKK.

The irony of my favorite band playing alongside my least favorite band (and I truly mean that) is sickening.  Smiley

The only way to save this performance is if it ends with Mike Love getting kicked in the groin.  Otherwise I won't be satisfied.

Don't forget Ringo's a presenter too, so could also throw his hat into the ring - both BBs and Beatles could reunite on the world stage simultaneously, both bands being just a couple of members short...

Love and peace, man, love and peace... But no autographs, okay?

Not to mention that Ricky Fataar may be there, as Bonnie Raitt will be performing as well (or so I hear).  If he's there, he should join them!

No!

He needs all the balls he's got for the speech he's planning.

Well, he also needs all the balls he's got because after this Grammys performance, he'll be knee deep...
